Why you swing so hard?

Because the ice 100 is so thin, I stuff both a 450mah 2s pack and cc bec up there for rx supply, but I worry that rx lipo and bec are in potentially the hottest part of the plane.... what do y'all think?
If your ICE melts, can or will it take out your rx power supply being in close proximity?

Richard,

I had a motor mount let go once, and the motor / esc / receiver pack where all up front. :-( The receiver batt twisted around and connection was lost.

So, if this is your only option for fit, prefilght that nose regularly and check the temps real good initially to ensure nothing is going to cook. And maybe consider wrapping the crap out of the esc with kapton to minimize fire damage in the unlikely event of that scenario.

See ya tomorrow!

I'd say don't do it but if, then don't wrap the ESC to much as this will only give it less cooling and send it up in smoke guaranteed.

Better put a lot of layers of Kapton around that RX pack, use way overkill wires and tape those as well.

viper burnt power train

Flew my Viper for all of 30 seconds sounded great, cut some beautiful lines -until it shut down.

motor and or esc smell burnt.

Set up

Neu 1112 1Y motor
CC 80 phoenix ESC
430 mAh 2S lipo receiver pack with BEC
Hyperion 4S 45C Battery
4.1 x 4.1 prop.
fuse -no cooling / vent holes

can't be certain what happened until i take it all apart but in the meantime wanted to know if anyone has had a similar situation.

thanks,

thanks,

Raul did you program the esc? Was the battery hot when you landed? Was the esc hot? The motor?

900-1000 watts is borderline for an 1112 motor with no cooling. For instance, my motor (1112-2D) under testing conditions with no cooling air, got uncomfortably warm to the touch after 50sec at ~65amps. In the air, with lots of cooling, it never gets above ambient, but without cooling is another story.

I would suggest testing the kv of your motor to see if you over-heated it, and testing the ESC to make sure it still functions. If they both work, cut some small cooling holes and try again! That motor should handle your power level easily, but it needs a little help

thanks for the info kid.
took apart & found Neu motor yellow wire charred all the way into the motor. maybe problem caused by improper yellow wrap insulation causing arch (?)

I had the same issue with a 1110-1Y. I was really surprised...but the motor was a complete loss. I got a lot of flights out of it, so figured I got my money's worth.

well little problem...after soldering the cc125 to the motor the length is about an inch to long and won't permit the battery to slip in,,,my battery came to wide to lay flat but can stand perfect....now the Question is how far can i cut the motor wire's back will it be solder-able.....the motor wire's are soldered to ESC directly i have removed the 3 motor wire's from esc and soldered direct to it..i need an 1" to make good.
