Scratch Built F-16 1/20th scale

Hello everyone,

This is my first posting.

I just wanted to share my experience with a scratch built F-16. I love 3D modeling and so modeled an F-16 using my favorite CAD package (I-DEAS).
The F-16 has 1/32 balsa formers and skinned.
Here's a pic of what it looks like. I'll try to attach a .avi file later. So far I have 30 flights on it. It cooks, with a standard speed 400 on 8 cell 600AE. Yes, it's just a pusher prop. I figure, it's a poor man's jet !

CONTROLS: Right wing pivots, All moving Elevator, and Throttle.

More to come later.

I have to do some modifications to the drawings since the build. I'll make sure to send the .DXF files to you. I've been swamped at work. Will send in about a week or two. Two servos control the F-16. One pivots the entire right wing for roll control, and the other servo controls the all moving elevator. It does right rolls great, but not left, because of adverse drag. In normal flying I can't tell a difference. I'll place the .avi file of it flying soon.

Cheers.

Looks Excellent!

What a novel control system! And I like the size - very easy to transport, and an inexpensive propulsion system.

Turns out that you and I have scratched and flown similar jets. Have a look over in the Jets section ...

When you have a chance can I have a copy of the plans too? It looks really cool! and would be a great replacement for my wattage mirage when it dies.

Thanks Alan
