If you're looking for a kit (You said build) and you want it ready to go with radio, battery, charger for around $250..

or

= around $250, give or take.

Blackfoots are awesome, the F-150's great looking (I had the S-10 way back) and the last one's on a TL01 chassis and is absolutely invincible.

its getting to where very few kits are available. Tamiya makes a bunch as rampage linked, associated has some, and hpi has a few (but no hpi under $200 that I could see)

As far as I know, HPI doesn't have any actual truck *kits* out, which is sad.

I love building kits. It's sad to see them starting to disappear.

And wth is with Tower listing the CC01 Wrangler at $219.00? The Pajero was 159 and the Wrangler was listed at $179..

hpi still has a few, but not enough in my opinion. The savage, the cup racer, cyber 10B (I like this one), and the baja buggy

There's a kit-based Savage? I figured they were all rtr. Lol.

I've built a few HPI kits--an RS4 3 SS, an RS4 MT, a Nitro MT, an RS4 Rally, a Micro RS4, and they were all great kits. Building is almost as much fun as driving. I bought my Pajero simply because I wanted to build something different. It sees almost no wheel time because there's too much soft sand around here..Lol.

I've even re-kitted most of my Traxxas vehicles..I re-kitted both my Slash and my JATO and rebuilt them both from kit-level with titanium hex hardware.

I have the original BlackFoot. She is still running strong. You guys are right. I don't see too many kits available. It used to be that you can get a RTR but still build it from ground up. Now the RTR I see is ready out if a box. Just charge your battery.

I have a few cars and my Blackfoot. I would like to get back in this with a kit I can build from start. I also need advise on a radio. 2.4 and capable of adding my other cars and Blackfoot.

For 2.4GHz systems I'd go with something like this:

http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/product_...roducts_id=616

$80 for a 3 channel 2.4ghz system with a lighted LCD display is not bad at all if you ask me. The Spektrum systems are nice, but even their most basic surface system is $129.99, and that's a 2 channel TX.

Since you've got experience (And likely have things like batteries and chargers and stuff and aren't starting from scratch) the SC10 would probably be a nice kit for you. Short Course trucks are the big thing right now, and I only know of 2 Short Course kits.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXWVF8&P=ML

The SC10 kit and the ThunderTech kit. TheThunderTech is expensive and is geared more toward the scale junkie, but it's a great-looking kit none the less and it looks like it'd be a blast to build it.

http://www.thundertechracing.com/pro2a.htm

They've still got the standard offerings from Team Associated in the kit-field, their high-end race machines.

B4

T4

RC8TE
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXXCJ6&P=ML

SC8E
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXXCY0&P=ML

But these are all expensive, especially the 8th scale trucks.

It's pretty slim-pickin's in the kit field right now unfortunately. Regardless, there are still some nice electric kits outt here! You just have to shell out a bit more for them.

Yeah, it gave me one on Chrome too. Not sure what's going on. I visit the site almost daily and this was the first time I got it. Probably a multimedia plugin or something.

Thank you. Yes I do have batteries and chargers. I fly airplane and helis too. But I did started out with cars and boats before I started flying.

I do like the short course trucks. I even like the looks of the crawlers. Kits have come a long way since my original Blackfoot.

I may have to visit a LHS and ask around too this weekend.

I drove around town to the LHS and found the same thing you guys are talking about. Seems like the SC10 is the closest I can get to building a kit for the money.
