Thanks Dave. If it matters (and I'm sure it does) I'm using D60s for ailerons and ds285s for the tail. I guess all four in the pod if I can figure out how to fit them.

Jon, from what I recall in talking with George, Charlie, and others (correct me if I'm wrong guys); cut the boom off right in front of where the original pre-cut notch for the vert fin starts. This will probably amount to about 1.5" - 2" in length. Use that notched piece you cut off as a template for re-notching the remaining boom. You will now have to ream out the horiz stab v-mount such that it can slide far enough forward on the now larger diameter boom. After gluing the vert fin on, wrap a couple turns of spectra string around the boom just in front of the fin and CA in place to reinforce and prevent further splitting.

IMHO putting your aileron servos in the wings is much easier. Trying to put them in the B2 pod will greatly complicate the build, make wing removal more difficult, and not buy you much if anything in performance.

Where is the lift?

Pretty much what Mike said ^^^. I mark where the tail V-mount fits before modification. Then I ream it out and try to get at least 1 and 5/8" and no more than 2" further forward without splitting the V-mount. Then I push the V-mount onto the boom to where it will be glued (later) and mount the tail. Then I mark the boom about 1/4" behind the trailing edge of the tail and make that the front edge of the new rudder notch. Then I make sure there will be the correct amount of boom behind that mark for the rudder and cut the remainder off. That normally is around 1/4" in front of the original rudder notch. Then you can take and split that small section you have cut off vertically into two halves and use them to mark out your new notch further forward.

Ok, confused yet? Pictures would really help but I don't have any of that process.

Yeah, I'm not all that excited about having to hook up the aileron linkages every time I take it out. I may reconsider putting all 4 servos in the pod.

Great exlaination charlie.

I didn't look in the little baggie of goodies that came with the kit, but if aileron servo covers are in there I'm going to cut into the wing

If a B2...would definitely put the servos in the wing...That's what all the Az guys did..

Jon...if you need some servo covers..well you make really good ones..!

I have always used the skin that I cut out as the cover. I usually try to "block" up the servo if possible so that when the original skin is laid back down on the servo it is flush with the wing. Then the normal tape around it.

SO there are only 5 of us from AZ going to the JEM next month? My dad was talking about carpooling and such, but if no one else goes, there's not really much of a reason.

The JEM is the John Erickson Memorial contest in/at Long Beach/ElDorado park. Prior to his unexpected passing, it was just the first ElDo monthly contest of the year. From what I've read, he a fantastic pilot, and in general an all-around great guy.
