Finally finished my Dandy-...uhh...Poly/Ail/Sport...maybe...

Finally got 'er done. I modeled it after an old sailplane I have...not sure how it's going to work, but I'm confident. I call it my Dandy-Poly/Ail/Sport... . Sport because I put an EPS300c up front.

Weighs in at 13.5 ounces, 1.5 more than specified. Not too bad considering the ailerons, 1/32" sheeting-LE to top spar, and the motor w/8x720 AAA's.

Thanks for looking...

Kind of hard to see, but this shows the ail flex cable exiting the fuse (yellow thingies ). I also need to put the LG in all the way, maybe it wouldn't sit crooked then... .

Now, if the 3" of snow will melt, the wind drop a few hundred miles an hour, and the temp rise above freezing...maybe I could maiden it.

Hey Josh, before you make your decision, I just wanted to mention that the regular Dandy doesn't have ailerons, if that matters... .

Covering was fun...let me just say I'm glad it is done...WHEW!

First I LIGHTLY spray painted the frame white. I then covered the stab and rudder completely w/white Solite, and the wing from the top spar back (pic). Then I took blue Solite and cut pieces out that covered one half of the stab top, one full side of the rudder, and half of the wing top. I then cut the chunks of covering in half, using the zig-zag pattern on the plane. That way I had two separate pieces with the pattern.

Too keep air bubbles out, I lightly sprayed the covering that was going to be underneath the blue w/water and dishsoap, layed the pieces of blue where I wanted them, took a paper towel and "squeegeed" the water/soap out from underneath the blue, and let it sit overnight. After it dried I went over it with my iron on low heat...this tacked it down better w/o shrinking the blue. Use Windex and a paper towel to clean off any dried soap, this will also find any loose edges tho, so be careful.

And there you have it...easy... !

Hope that all is understandable, if not let me know.

BTW...if you do this, remember to seal the covering down tight to the bare wood on the wing... .

I'm sure you have pretty much the same weather there....

Well, even tho it's raining, I'm still watching for the wind to die. Where 'bout is Harris, MN. (too lazy to find a map... )

Yeah me too! Beautiful day, but windy. I ended up pulling an all-nighter on my Taco, just so I wouldn't miss daybreak. The wind was already blowing then... .

...heh,heh...skies... .
