Hypersprint,
Good idea on zip tying the extensions for the ailerons to the side they are supposed to go to.

I have used the heat shrink method of holding extentions together but have melted a couple of plastic cases myself. The aeroworks servo locks are very nice especially for places that need to be removed. I have used for semipermanent locks the smallest zip ties I can find. They work great by looping through one of the inside sets of 3 wires on the extension to the servo wire..

Joe
Good call Joe.

I will be at LAMA Sat. morning with the SC. Hope the weather is good!-Jeff

Elevator Set-Up

Time to get the elevator connected and ready to go...

NOTE!!! I am going to take a moment to remind everyone just how important it is to REMOVE THE PROPELLER during ANY power on set-up. I have lucked out time and time again, but have now heard enough horror stories about folks getting all sliced up by an inadvertent throttle application while setting up the controls. Or also bad, models have been severely damaged when they fly off a work bench...

Sorry to go there, but I had to say something.

MLT,

Thanks! Sounds like we will finish about the same time.

I have a feeling I will mount the RX on the farthest aft area on the battery tray. I'm hoping with the lighter Reaper GR45 my lipo will be a little forward of that position.

With the GR45 on 1/4" standoffs youll still have plenty of room on the back of the tray...thats where Zero3803 put his. Mine is velcroed to the side near the servo wing servo wire holes.

Rudder Set-Up

3DHS was nice enough to run the rudder cables for us at the factory... I say thanks! And we have plenty of cable length to work with.

Hints:
1) Be sure rudder cables are taught, not tight. Banjo string tight won't do you any good. In fact it will put undue stress on the rudder servo causing a loss of torque and pre-mature wear on the servo.

2) Too loose is also bad. If you can move the rudder a visible amount of travel without the servo arm moving, the cables are too loose.

Take your time on this step. It's not as scary or as hard as I probably just made it sound. Just go easy and work find that "sweet-spot" between too tight, and too loose.

Anyone feel free to jump in and offer more suggestions on the topic!

Thanks GC. I am going to put the AR6200 there for now. I appreciate the input. I have a new AR7600 on the way, so it will take the place of the 6200 when it gets here next week. That way the 6200 can go back to the Slick.

Doc and PVT,

Thanks for the compliments. No doubt your SC's will rock, another awesome kit for sure. I have had a great time assembling this one. If the weather is decent enough it will be ready to maiden Sat. morning. I will then report back and hopefully have some pics and maybe video.

Jeff,

Thanks for the build pictures and descriptions. I just got the last of my parts and supplies today. So, I should be right behind you this weekend. If only my 4S batteries on back order from Hobby City would arrive then I could get into the air.

Mike,

Very good! Be sure to report back to us when you finish the build and get the SC in the air.

What Lipos are you planning to run in the SC?

Jeff, if I may, I have started adding a nut to my pull pull's. See the attachments. The nut's main purpose is to let the builder make fine adjustments to the wire's tension. Too, they act as a backup if the adjustor's set screw were to become loose.

Hope we can soon look forward to a video of your plane's maiden.
