Sorry to see that, I agree with Losi. Just finishing up breakfast and rolled into that pic. Also agree that is a MB Kit Repair job. Just would have to be dealing with some Recover and getting the Color Trim back on to match. With some new Stringer stock and an MB Kit, you can fix that one. |

In all honesty the Nanos are not all that great compared to good lipos. I also got much better perfromance out of the Gen ace batteries from hobbyparts than the turnigy nanos .Higher cycle life too

So what do you recommend in discharge rate Losi? 20's, 30's 40's or higher... I am not all that up on Lipos so I tend to buy what others recommend.. in my Slick my Nanos made the thing stupid fast in uplines and that is why I am asking...

My bigger Nanos worked good when they were new(the smaller 1800s never did) they just didnt have the cycle life
I am one of those people that goes for the highest C rating I can afford. I dont like to stress my lipos so the higher C rating helps. Its only been the High C rated batteries that were way over rated for my use that have lasted. If you are going for 4k lipos in the SC You can get away with 20C (pushing it) 25C is much better(your only pulling a max of about 80 amps or so and a 25C will do 100amps easily) . If you can get 30C if the price is right thats even better. I picked up 4K 25C Gen Ace batts and they hold voltage well and have a lower IR than the Nanos(thus putting out more power). I only have 2 nanos left and they are not doing all that great but I can use them in the PZ Thunderbolt as that doesnt need alot of power |

I have some 5K 30C blues. They do pretty good but they are new so I dont know how they are going to be at 200 cycles(will find out though )

Successful ReMaiden!
Been fighting what is like a bad sinus cold, but I think it's just another one of my CA Reaction sessions. Started at 6 AM and been going strong all day.
Too cold to fly until late in the day. Had to take the Fam to a nice lunch for the wife's late B-Day celebration. Great food was had by all! Got back and loaded up after checking out the Ailerons to make sure I plugged into the right ports for each side. Not using a Y. Got to the flying site after 4 PM and had the entire parking lot to myself. Flew the 47 Velox for a warmup and then loaded up the 57 SC with a 4S 4000 pack. Took off and went right into a Hover at 15ft. This reminded me of the first flights trying to hover. Back on the 14x7 it seems easier than on the 15x6. Flew around on Low Rates, got it trimmed, needed about 4-5 clicks of up. I just guessed at the battery position, finger lifted the spar. Was nose heavy just a tad. Flew Inverted and confirmed slightly nose-heavy. It handled well and tracked great! I had forgotten just how powerful the Motrolfly 3625-800 really is! That thing is a Monster and it really sounds like it! I can see already I need to tone down the Throttle sensitivity. Already got EPA's at 150/150. Need to hook it back up to the Castle Link and set the Throttle Sensitivity to Medium until I get used to it again, maybe leave it there to keep it smooth. Flew the second pack just a tad farther back, but I think I liked the first spot. Remembered both times to get it slowed down and fly it down under slight power and landings were nice and smooth non-events. I'm a little concerned about a knocking sound in the motor when I tested it without a prop on. Above 50% Throttle when you are advancing the Stick it Clunks once like a Tranny shifting into another gear??? When I flew it in KE or HAKE and added in power to maintain height, it sounded like a small radial engine, or like a little diesel. Don't remember the original 3625 making that sound. I do see the Aluminum Backplate on the Spinner is not perfectly flat and straight, so thinking maybe it is hitting the cowl ring and the sound is enhanced when in KE. Going to look for any scoring or rub marks. Also going to fly it next without the Spinner and see how it sounds. Then get a new spinner if I have to. Hoping I don't have to get another motor, going to make a vid of the clunk sound and let Ken see and hear it. Motor is tight, no slop so not sure what that is?? Glad to have the SC back as the Flagship of my little Four Ship 3DHS Fleet! Took the Camera, forgot to stick the battery in from the charger before I left. Took a couple Cell pics before flying, just in case. |
