ReVolt 70mm Flyable Concept @ 3000watts maiden video added

Here is my brand spanking new ReVolt concept. This is a high performance composite jet based around the new generation of 70mm high powered EDF's, Designed, Sourced, plugged, moulded, and assembled right here in the USA . I'd say this one isn't for everyone, you'll need a 4S 5000 atleast to get it to CG. We've flown one using a JS1400 and 4S 5000, and this is about the tamest you want.

My personal ReVolt is running 12S 2250's, running +70 amps and just above 3000watts through the schubler DS-30 fan.

Yes, you read it right, 3000 watts through the 70mm schubie , i don't have a way to accurately measure, but fan calc estimate +70,000rpm, and +250mph efflux. Thrust is 6 pounds with 40C's and just under 6 with 30C's, installed. The decible level is insane, ear protection required. I put the eye protection on just pluggin it in.

I have yet to maiden mine, but i hope to do so tomorrow morning, god willing . We've used a number of test models to get our CG and control throws exactly where we want them, along with how it can be manufactured with lightest weight and highest strength, Currently Epoxy resin and fibreglass.

The few concepts that have been produced were used for testing. Additional provisions will be made for wiring, most likely changing the canopy layout and adding extra room for the ESC, Aswell as full ducting (of course).

Tail surfaces and wing are vaccum molded, tail surfaces are fully aerofoiled. I've been told the plan is to paint the entire airframe in the mold, and include live hinges (hinging in the mold, for those of you who didn't know). This should help keep assemblely time to a minimum.

Here is a short test run of the 3kw 70mm edf:

Revolt 70mm Concept @ 3000 watts (0 min 38 sec)

and here is the maiden today:

sorry about the camera work! we will get better video next time.

for those of you going to E-jets, keep an eye out for it

Well it's good to know the Shubeler can take 3K watts. I don't feel so bad now overspeeding mine 10%. I wonder why the 50K RPM limit? Perhaps that's max eff rather than exploding speed...I don't know. What motor are you using with 12S?

okay guys the video is up! since it was the maiden we didn't really rip on it, but just wanted to get everything all dialed in. only used full throttle for takeoff (check out that acceleration!) and once for a vertical climb(you'll hear it).

Next time, we'll get closer and get you guys some good doppler'able footage.

Good job Pete. Look's like you need to clean the air frame up alot to get some really good speed out of it though.
12s will fly a brick if you have a thick wing and sharp nose
but hay it will hand launch that is cool good luck.

I couldn't find any other edf that fits a 70 and will allow the use of 25oz of lipo and still CG.

We will see the speed when i open her up

not to mention, an unpowered brick dropped from 7,000 feet will go faster than any of our edfs.

thanks!

Pete,

I checked your rpm and on that video and it started at 75,000 rpm then dropped down to 72,500 rpm. That is a lot or rpm!
