antenna tracking with rssi voltage

has anyone thought about antenna tracking with the rssi voltage? has it been done? Ive searched the forums and found nothing. but couldn't i just make a circuit that uses servos for pan and tilt and points the antenna in the direction that gets the highest rssi voltage? or is that harder than it sounds?

Noob question here,

RSSI is where the signal is displayed or recorded in regards to how well in % the Rc link is?

Highly innacurate I would have thought. Plus you'd be asking the antenna to continually move off course to see if the signal was any stronger elsewhere.

Ian.

would not, it prob would use a voltage comparator to follow the highest voltage, which means follow the highest voltage once it gets below a certain point have it scan for it, so no one has done this?

It can be done but IanJ is correct the antenna has to be sweeping all the time. It needs to sweep a 30 degree limit (relative to the plane) as to not totaly loose your signal. Using a track and hold compartor setup which will slow down (or shorten the sweep rate) of the antenna at the strongest signal. Good for long distance but within say 100 meters and at speed not so good.

Hi Atari,

Yes i'm working about this project already. If everything is ok, i will produce a device in 2 month. My friend developing search patterns for military rocket guidance. I will use some similar search algoritms for tracking.
If i finish somethings i can share here.
