Exhaust Nozzle

Contructed in the same manner as the fan housing. The plywood bulkhead that you can see between the fan housing and the nozzle is part of the structure that will attach the motor tube assy to the fuselage. The nozzle will be held on by a screw hidden in the fuselage and a tiny stap on the bottom.

nice jet!! subscribing on to this one, simple effective looking jet! And we could all use a nice build thread, so load us up with specs and progress! reminds me a bit of Wade Joos sport jet, a much needed design type these days! ah if I had the time!

Intake

Just like the rest of the motor tube, made from laminated balsa. Some final sanding to make a smooth intake lip is still needed. Now you can see both of the bulkheads that attach the assy to the fuselage.

Batteries on a Budget, Which Ones?!

I'm still deciding which battery to use, but I think I've narrowed it down:

XPS 5000mah 30C
or
Turnigy 5000mah 30C

Is it worth the extra $100 for the XPS batteries? And I'll tell you right now there is no way I can afford Thunderpowers or Evos.

Anyone have any better ideas?

Hi Joshua,

Great project, can't wait to see it fly at the next AEF! If it flys like the original, all I can say is wow...........

Good luck! Mickydee

don't forget to factor in shipping. i bought two zippy 2200 30C's, and the difference between those and XPS was $4

Vertical Stabilizer

The Vertical is made of built up 1/8" balsa, some hardwood reinforcement and sheeted in 1/16". Sanded into an airfoil shape, this vertical is very thin and sleek. Perhaps less drag than the Electra vertical that houses the rudder servo? Our servo will be located in the fuselage/tail boom.

Ya, no kidding on the shipping. Ouch. A good friend of mine is using the exact pack from XPS that I plan to use, and it performs flawlessly. However, he's not pushing it nearly as hard as I plan to. Thanks for the input!

Leaning towards the XPS....

Cool looking jet! Looks a lot like our design. Know where I can find some video of it?

Hi,

Nope on a Spatha clone. My dad is about 3/4 of the way through a Balsa USA Enforcer that is scaled down 10% and has Spring Air retracts. Hopefully a little more handier and with a higher power loading than the one you saw at AEF. We should have it at AEF next year.

I tried to talk dad into a Spatha, but he isn't done with the Enforcer family yet. Like your dad, he builds what the spirit moves him.

Any chance you guys are making drawings as you go? Scale them up, scale them down, presto! Spatha's in all sizes!

Good luck! Mickydee

Horizontal Stabilizer

Horizontal stab is built in a similar manner to the vertical. The empenage on this aircraft is about 10% larger relatave to its airframe than the original Spatha.

The Enforcer has always been one of my "Gotta Have one" planes. I'd love to see a build thread on this one.

BTW, is it going to be prop or EDF?
