PZ F4F Wildcat
If my next purchase is going to be a Park Zone F4F Wildcat, then I'm going to need one on this sim for practice sessions. Gary Gunners has already graciously provided the PZ Corsair and the PZ T-28 Trojan. The Wildcat would just about complete the hanger!
Thanks in advance, JerseyJohn |

I think you'll find a similar model in the sim will do just as well for practicing purposes. Fine-tuning simulator models to get duplicate real-life performance is not a simple task. People do entire grad theses on similar stuff for full-sized planes! IMO, RC flight sims should be used for the following: 1) For beginners, to get comfortable with the controls and learn enough about flying a plane to have a good chance of succeeding. 2) For others, to improve skills and work on precision flying, aerobatics, or other tasks that the simulator can model (i.e. soaring and thermaling). 3) To have fun. For numbers 1 and 2, it's important to have a realistic physics model in the simulator and airplane models that fly realistically, but it's not important to have models that fly exactly like their real counterparts. When using a simulator for practice (numbers 1 and 2), you should always fly A LOT of models similar to the one you will be using in real life and make sure you become proficient at whatever you're working on, with all of the planes you try. This will ensure that you've learned how to fly and not just how to move your thumbs to make a single model do what you want it to. Of course, this should not discourage anyone from making an F4F Wildcat model. That is one of my favorite warbirds. Dan |

I have a delta wing model that is almost unstallable. At good flying speed she pulls very tight loops but as the airspeed drops she just becomes less and less able to raise her nose before returning to level flight. At the slow end she just glides gently forward and down with full elevator. I've tried fooling around with lift and drag curves and elevator effectiveness and related parameters but haven't been completely successful. What is the best way to model this model? -kepa |

This makes a big difference. It sounds too, like the center of gravity (CoG) maybe back too far. Setting all the flight characteristics is very tricky. Adjusting one thing seems to effect three others sometimes. Also keep in mind, the sim is beta and Davy is still making improvements here and there. |

New planes
Here are a couple that I have been working on between family and work.
I'm not really happy with the color schema on the T45. The F8 is in the sim already but the flight characteristics are not right yet. I think I got some of the inertia parameters wrong. |

New flight model: test version
Hi all,
I'm getting ready to do the final release of version 0.1.3. But before I do, I would like to get your expert opinion on the new flight model (the bit of code that determines how airplanes fly). For this I uploaded a test build that can be downloaded from the following link: http://rcdeskpilot.com/system/files/..._013fmtest.exe This version is only to get feedback and cannot be found on the website. Be sure to fly with some wind! Most airplanes have two versions. The version with the "2" behind its' name uses the new flight model, the one without is the old model. That way you can compare the two flight models. The Extra 2 has radically changed to hopefully better simulate 3D flying. The sim is backwards compatible, so existing aircraft will fly like they did. Other things that have been changed, but not completely finished: revamped wind system (thx Metman & Eves), aircraft editor (for the new FM), flag, crash animation, chase cam,... Thanks for any feedback of any kind (positive, negative, constructive...) you might have! Davy |

Here are my thoughts on the new version
-I can definitly tell the new flight ablilties of the extra, I can hover a lot better -All the second version's of the planes fly a lot better -Maybe just a little to much roll control on the cessna Everything's lookin real good j3tman, |

Looking Good Elam...
You should love the new chase cam following those jets. To all, if your testing out the new beta. Press F12 while flying with the wind and thermals on. Just one of many new cool features added. Where is Franky? You may have to add in a kite model for that guy, Davy. |
