Hi Guys! NYFlyer reporting in to the new thread. good job to all. Had my normal problems logging on RCG. maybe now that I will be here more it will be kinder to me...
Ken, I love that RC Planes attacks video also. Notice how about half of those attacks are by those $5 foamies? I wish I had some video of the unplanned maiden of my E-force. For those not at the fly in I will post pics of the plane and the full story later. just watched the Duck video. After the first flight, Brad said the ailerons were not working well. Upon examination they were quite loose and sevo movement was not providing throw. I spent an hour or so, re-hinging them, and making some tweaks, but not much better on the second flight. Watching the video, I believe that something went wrong when he glued the stiffening ribs on the wing. It looks like the Trailing edge of one wing is lower than the other causing the unwanted constant turn. With a wing that size, it would not take much. |

No flying, here, for a couple of days....Weather dude just won't co-operate. I'm thinking about making up some type of load to cycle lipos. I tried a heating element from a scrap coffee pot, but it would only draw .9 amps from a 3S.....I wish I still had some of the military surplus stuff, I had years ago. I had an adjustable carbon pile that I could pull 0-70 amps from continously. The thing was fan cooled, which was a good thing, as you could have toasted weenies on the thing when it was really cookin.

a primer on perplexers
Azzar, I am assuming the odd bit on the front of the airplane you are referring to is the perplexer. Perplexers come in different shapes and sizes but the primary thing a perplexer does is to cause a small rift in the time space continuum. Indeed, perplexers cause gravity to lessen in the area around it. I use pulsed magnetism to properly rotate the perplexers on my airplanes, but even a properly chosen piece of wood can be induced to flight when the perplexer is adequately deployed.
The puzzling part is that some airplanes come with an emergency flotation device. Tim |

Got a CA tip from a balsa and tissue guy. BEFORE you start working on your plane apply a thick coat of CA to you finger tips and let it dry then proceed with the build. For some dang reason when you intentionally put the glue on your fingers it is much easier to peel off, don't ask me why but it works
That AgriDuck is one ridiculous airplane...too cool, I might have to see if an come up with a scratchie like that, what power combo is it running? I don't think I have a motor that will swing a prop like that. |

OK, after answering a question on our thread, that involvrd Bionic eyes a strange thought entered my head.
Would Steve Austin be able to pass a flight physical with his prosthestics? Tim Thank goodness the sun is breaking through. Time to load the truck |

The private thread, the top secret thread the old and soon to be forgotten thread except not everyone has found us here thread.
So I went to fly and at the HS an experienced woman was walking her little dog sans a leash. I had my 2 MS compsits planes so the 15 mph gusts had nothing to do with my decision to go back later. On the way home I stopped at the elem school. Afterall if an overpowered Unique can fly in gusty wind a Micro SU-26 can as well. So after feeling out the new prop on the ground, none of my other planes have the ground handling that this micro does, and watching the wind having it's way with the plane, I waited for a lull and went for it. This plane does not have the power that I put in most planes. It takes a good 10-12' to rog, but once I got some airspeed up it was just a hoot. It was a short flight because I figured that this plane and these wind conditions were not optimal. Tim |

Pat, if I have a large battery pack to cycle down, & sometimes even my small ones, I just put a plane in the airplane cradle, & hook up the watts up meter, plug everything in & set the throttle to where it's pulling a low amp draw. Depends upon the motor system, something big that can take 50 amps or more, I'll run at a 10 amp draw rate. Then from there I just keep track of the amp meter while I play with other toys. Run it down to 1/2 or the rated capacity for storage & if I'm doing a full cycle, down to 3 volts per cel. |

New AMA card showed up today. I went ahead & renewed for 2 years since I always forget to get around to doing that. Going to drop off my club dues tomorrow. That and pick up a battery I somehow left at the field when I was there last weekend. I would go today, but I'm doped up on Vicodin right now. I got out of bed this morning with a stiff back, & that graduated into a sore muscle, & right after I posted the link for the Duck video, I went upstairs & turned the corner & dropped to my knees cause that muscle went into full on cramp mode. I've spent the last 4 hours on the couch with a heating pad. Wifey of course wanted to take me to the doctor. I told her that wasn't going to happen since I'm not ready to hand over my Man Card yet.
