What about trying a Sharpie for color?
Never tried it myself but, Multiple coats might lighter then paint.?

Rit dye. Makes them totally black, weighs nothing, doesn't come off, and is cheap and easy to do. The down side is that you can't see the prop when it's turning.

Spraying works better for me. Making the prop look good using Sharpie seems a bit difficult for me.

APC 18 x 10 E, before painting m = 62.5 g .... after 2 thin layers of semi gloss spray paint m = 62.9 g - 63.0 g. The weight difference is less than (1g) and very hard to tell.

Mejzlik and Xoar now are difficult to find. Can we buy directly from Xoar international? Order like 50 or 100 of them then we can share.

Come to California in January for the AMA Convention! I am loading up on props there! I always do!

Xoar props are easy to find. Xoar 19x10 are not. I think there hasn't been much demand for them, so they only make them occasionally when they get enough requests maybe. They didn't even list that as a size they made when I last checked on their website. But clearly they do, or have, since I have a couple sitting in my garage!

I just ordred 2 18x10's and 2 19x10's from Bob's Hobby in Orlando FL. Said they had plenty in stock so I went ahead and ordered two of each so I'll have a spare.

Someone ran into a weird problem with the size of the center hole on some of the xoar props a while back. Anyone remember what the resolution was to that? I think it was in this thread.

I got the 18x8 from Abell RC. They did not have 18x10, only 18x13.
Joe used a piece of Carbon fiber wing tubing to shim the 18x10 he has so it would fit on the 8mm prop shaft. I ordered a 18x10 Turnigy to try also.
Between me and Joe we should have some good numbers by this weekend.

The 18x10 Xoar's are hard to find.

The Xoar 18x10 I got about a year ago had 10mm holes which were too big for the prop adapter. I found a nylon spacer at a hardware store with a 10mm od and was able to ream it out to 8mm id and use between the prop and shaft with no problem. Those I've gotten recently were either 8mm or smaller so no adapter was needed.

I sanded mine...grey primed...applied some 3M 777 to some drywall tape...stuck it down to follow the curves on all "4" sides...sprayed a light coat of black...let it dry...pulled the drywall tape off, leaving a nice checkerboard pattern...wet sanded with 800 (I think) very lightly...sprayed a few layers of gloss on top of all that.

Yes, I added a few pounds of paint...but I haven't noticed. I wonder if the masking would hold up to the Rit dye???

Seriously...it took me longer to type this than it did to prep the prop. It looks pretty convincing too. (Sorry I'm at work...no pictures!)

It's cheaper for me to buy 50 Xoars than coming to California to get the props. Drove there last summer, was fun, 7000-mile trip.
