74" Edge is easier to hover than the 71" Slick, which is easier to hover than the 72" Extra....at least for me...but I have also never flown a Vyper (other than the Vyper bipe).

What makes one plane easier to hover than another?

Basically the amount of control required to keep them there. Some planes will happily sit in a hover and others take some work to keep them there.
Like Manta said, the 65 vyper is by far the easiest plane I have ever hovered. Once I got it into the hover it basically sat there on it's own.

I get that part. I was wondering what in the plane's construction makes it hover more easily than another.

Guys. with my new OS GT 33 Motor. I am running a Ultra Tec BEC with a Badger switch and everything is ran off 1 2S 1500 Lipo. The OS says that I can run from 4.8-7.4 so do I just take the all clips off the Ultra Tec BEC?? In the Manual of the Ultra Tec Bec it show 4 different ways to set it up. 5.0 Volt/ 5.3 Volt/6.1 Volt & 6.6Volt which shows a Picture with no Clip attached. I just dont want to burn up the ignition that is why I am asking. I know that the DLE was 5.3 (I believe) Thanks for the help.

I think the 71 is a lot easier to hover the the 74 Edge. Maybe it is because I am running a 21x10 Prop and the amount of Ail input that I need can make it challenging.

When I attempt to hover, all controls are on high rate....and even with the gas carbon fiber prop, I don't run out of aileron....That said, I'm not all the great at hovering, but for me, the Edge gets it... YMMV...

I had the 57 with a reaper 60, a little nervous in hover, maybe overpowered and too much torque and P factor. Have the 71 inch slick on recommended set-up - A50-12L, 6s, 20 x10 xoar, 19 x 10 in hotter temps. Easiest plane to hover I have ever owned ... and easier than foamies!

So from my experience, getting the sweet spot on motor and prop combo really helps. Am flying the slick with a forward (precision) CG, once again as recommended by the designers.

Anyone know how the little 42 Slick compares to the 71? Seems like a great little practice plane if it retains the flying traits of the 71.

It flies similar if you keep 42" light... IMO, 160g max battery weight when using a 100g motor. Haven't flew it with a 70g motor but I would think it would get doggy with heavier packs too.
