Just placed an order for more Power Poles and a few of the "locks" that secure them. Does anyone have experience with the regular retention clips as well as the BLOK-LOKs? I've ordered a couple of each to try out and see how they hold.

If I'm flying 8S on my 70" slick and I wanna buy batteries from hobbypartz....
Should I buy two 4s 3300"s or can I go bigger? I don't want to go to heavy but I don't want a cheesy short flight time. Will two 4s 5000's be too much weight?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

most of us on 8S are flying 4000mah packs, but 4500's would also be fine if you need a little more. 5000's will be flyable, but you'll start noticing the weight in performance for sure.

edit: Losi slides in with the same

Ok thanks guys. I'll look at the gens ace or sky lipos. I've never had a problem with them. Should do the trick.

I have "heard" Sky Lipos don't get many cycles...no personal experience though...

Yeah always rock solid for me. Sky works good too, but blue lipos got puffy a little bit. I quit buying them.

The block-loks rock! They are not hard at all to get on and odd and really ease my mind that its not coming apart. The regular retention clips with just the two posts are ok. Problem ive had is they ate either really loose fitting or really tight and need pliers to grip them because the tabs are kinda small. I have a bunch but have never liked them or trusted them to hold in flight. Plus the block-loks are just way too easy to use. Trick is to hook one end first and just apply pressure until the other side pops in. Takes a bit but not much. Hope that helps!

I run 8s (2x 4s 5000mah Sky Lipos). I'm getting around 7 min. flight time and burning around 65-70% of the pack in that time. I run the batteries about an inch off the wing tube, and it balances just ever so slightly nose heavy from the wing tube.

+1 -- My first order of Gens Ace (3s and 4s) should arrive tomorrow. I'm replacing some of my blue lipos that I'd been using. I have Sky Lipos for my larger applications at the moment and they are a ton better than the blue lipos. Having the PL8 now, and batteries that won't puff quickly is going to make charging and flying more enjoyable.

They make one for four pairs. You could just use an extra set of housings and put the four pairs together. Or even better. You can put all three housings in a row, using the retaining pin between one set so they cant come apart and then use a single set block-lok on the other set. Should work just fine.

thanks, Brady. What if i just used a large diameter shrink wrap over the connections. I'd assume that would work too?

That would work. It would kinda take away the large advantage of being able to disconnect quickly without cutting heatshrink.
