For any interested I compared the weight of a 70" Velox to a 71" Slick today, new v2 models of both, and both equipped nearly identically. The airframe with servos/motrolfly 4325-425/HV120 ESC/ BEC Pro, basically everything except batteries for my 71" Slick weighed in at 8lb 6oz.

Weighed a 70" Velox for comparison, nearly identical setup. Rimfire 1.20, which is about an ounce lighter, and Ice 100 which is nearly the same as the HV120's, within an ounce at least, it weighed in at 7lb 9oz.

So about 3/4 lb difference between the two.

And for a further comparison, the 71 with batteries (750 gram 6s5300 Gens Ace) was just over 10lb.
My previous older 70" Slick was only about 9.5lb. Though that was without a BEC Pro and just using an ice 100 and internal BEC with 985 servos. Still the new ones seem at least 5-6oz or more heavier than the older ones were.

My 71 slick was 9lbs 13 or 14oz with a 4325 motor, 7985servos, hv120esc, bec pro, and 2x 4s 4k lipos at 425 grams each. That was fully built with spinner and wheel pants. Wonder why your 6s setup weighed more than my 8s? I'm now over 10 pounds since repairs and the bigger 5320 motor.

I think I always get kits built with the heaviest wood.
All of the 42" Slicks I've ever had were 2-3 oz heavier than what many others would say theirs were too. I thought for a while it might be the scale I was using, but I weighed a few things on my scale and then compared to one at work, and they were the same. So I think I'm unlucky when it comes to wood selection
Oh well, it still flies good!

Got a couple more flights on the protek 20 x 10 prop. Seems pretty good so far. Maybe a tad less punch but a little better on topend. Hard to tell flying in wind one day and calm the next. I don't have many flights on this prop yet. The blades have a very blunt flat end as opposed to the way the xoar gets narrower at the tip. No bad flight characteristics at all. Flying in my small spot and a couple walkers forced me to keep her in close most of the time. watch in 720p

Well after several months of trying to decide what to get next I pulled the trigger on a 71" orange slick. Picked it up at the B.E.S.T fly-in near Houston, Tx last weekend. It has Hacker A50-12L ,Castle ICE 100, Castle BEC PRO and 985's all the way round but I would have preferred the 7985's. Its in mint condition and I saved a couple hundred dollars so geuss I didn't do to bad. Where's a good place to get good 5000 Mah 6S batteries at decent price and what C rating should I look for?

Gen ace makes a 5300mah 6s 30c for like $80. They also have the 5300mah in 60c for $116. Either will work fine but you will get more punch out of the 60c.
