Huntsville, Alabama Aerotow

North Alabama Radio Control Association is sponsoring an aerotow event on October 24-25, 2009 at Epps Field just north of Huntsville. There will be towplanes to 150cc and sailplanes to 8-1/2 meters and experienced sailplane pilots and tow pilots from around the southeast for your flying pleasure.
Click on the link for further info. This is the perfect opportunity to get those last flights in before winter.

This is a great mid-south location and we invite you to join us for some serious fun. Contact us if you need info for accomodations.

Hi Asher!
I've been looking for Rustys phone number in my moving boxes. I know the Pensacola aerotow was canceled last year and I've been wondering if something would happen over that way this year. Count me in. I've put it on the calender. It would be great to have the Pensacola in the spring as well. I'll bring my 4.5 meter all molded cirrus from Graupner/Paratech/Bruno Rhim. I'll see what else I can cobble togeather before Oct. I will need info for accomidations.

See you

Some have asked for coords and/or physical address for the Huntsville Aerotow in October so here you go:

Epps Airpark
Harvest, Al USA
Lat: 34-51'-53.32" North Long: 86-46'-13.00" West
Elevation: 820' (250m) max. Runway Length 2300' (701 m)
Runway 1/19 2300' x 200' Turf

Comments: Private Use, Airport Manager:
George Epps
1635 Harvest Rd.
Harvest, AL 35749

Those who have indicated you might fly into the event will need to contact Mr. Epps regarding this just as a courtesy. We do have a transceiver on the field but you will need to make several high circuits of the field as well.

We are updating the map listed in post 4 as the event approaches with info such as restaurants, trip lines and mileages. Please check this closer to the dates as there may be information of interest for you there.

The main road from I-565 to Harvest Rd., Wall-Triana, turns into a 2-lane farm to market road north of Hwy. 72. It is narrow with culverts and bridges to match. Some of these are not clearly marked so please be careful. It is fully driveable and safe but just be aware.

IM, or call me if you have questions

This "trial balloon" aerotow is shaping up beyond our expectations. We have participants coming from MI, TX, NC, FL and TN. Come on out and fly with us!

No place like cloud base!
Depending if I can get out of other commitments, I'm planning on making the trip to see you. Mind if I bring my tug out to play?

Bring it on. I'm sure there's enough room for another tug.
