Toledo Wood Boat Show


The wife and spent today at the Toledo Wood Boat Show. We went last year and had a good time. This year was better because the show was at a new location and I could actually get my models wet. The show organizers ask that we pay the "full size" boat registration fee of $25 for our models - which we did. What did we get for the $25? Friday night was a welcome dinner on the S.S. WILLIS B. BOYER Museum Ship; Saturday was gift bag with a commemerative t-shirt; poster; and some other goodies; as well as access to their hospitalty tent. Here are some pictures from the event.

A lot of interesting boats.

Not being a big sailboat fan, one day I would like to try a 1:1 ice boat.

Looks like a nice show! good for you for entering your boats! looks like a great place to get exposure to our hobby! A lot of the people who walk through cant afford the 1:1... but they might be interested in a working model!

So, which of the 3 didn't work extremely well?

Ice boats?? I have never heard of ice boats. Those look awesome. Like land sailers, without wheels. Very cool.

I've seen where you take one of those ice boats, put wheels on it and race it across the salt flats.

I like the Studebaker, too; to me, it still has crisp lines and looks surprisingly modern. 'Course the Thunderbird looks good, too.

I think you will find it an interesting September 12, 2009 - usually a couple of famous canadian modellers come down and you can watch jack work on some of his fittings. Most of the steam boats are in the water and there are real Hydro races.

The 29 annual show was the last time we showed our woody - but have tried to work the shows since.

The one I forgot to pack the radio for. I'm not saying which boat it was.

Bob, The ACBS was busy this weekend. The club exhibited at the local boat show at Pewaukee Lake yesterday. There is a thread on Dock Talk.

If anybody has a ACBS chapter boat show near them it is worth seeing. Great bunch of people and fantastic boats.
