I can fit my lap-z transponder on the tank, facing up but will it run on 3,7v?
My ultra-small mr. Light Venoman compensates for the weight, covers it and as leaves room for the beam.
Again, can i power the Lap-z transponder by the single lipo cell?

First my experiance says that the IR (lightbeam) Transpondersystems do not work well on bikes.
The leaning angles are the problem. You pass the detector alsways at a different angle and they
seem a bit sensitive about that.
Second: just try it and plug it to 3.7V(4.2Vfreshly charged). I have never heared of electonics as
simple as a transponder exploding by undervolting it.

The Lap-Z will not work If you are in the lead on the last lap and you want to finish in style like the big boys on tv, take the bike on rear wheel over the finish line, your last lap will not count because of the IR. Otherwise it will work. Maybe you will miss a lap because of low power. This can happen in a mini-z car sometimes when power is low and when you are on full throttle at the same time.

come on! Each racer will count their own laps, with pencil and paper. EACH LAP!
Then, we will compare notes: The one's writing that is the most beautiful wins!
Edit: And NO MARSHALS!

I like stelios's Idea best

The Robitronic IR System works with 4 AAA Batteries on the Mini-Z Cars as well, so I don't see why they should not work on 1s Lipo as well.
Considering the typical voltage break-down of a Nimh Battery, I guess they will have more Voltage on a 1s Lipo setup than in the Cars

We also must not make the bike top heavy... it wont stand if it lays on the crashbar...
I know... I removed the tiny rider and stuck a smallish camera to try some onboard video... it was a failure! haha!

I guess a transponder will not hurt it, especially if you take it out of its case (when possible).

Regarding IR transponders on Bikes: With the small bikes I try to put the Receivers into a hairpin, so you are on the bars in 90% of the passings. Then mount the Transponder so it faces upright, when on that bar.

Why don´t you try a step up lipo module?

Some brands manufacture these kind of devices, designed to raise 3.7 lipo nominal voltage to BEC style 5V...

The question is...

Do you have any spare room inside those tiny bikes to hide a transponder and the step up converter?

I hope some one can help...what type of materials use for the "crashbars". How its called and usually what type of shop is selling???

I see most of you bending the crashbar in square form, compare with round type....what is the advantage of square bending the crashbars
??

Very simple - they last longer!
Larger contact patch - less wear

You can wire a voltage regulator from your ESC/battery (ESC is better, due to lower voltage, so less heat on the voltage regulator).

Ooops, edit: I thought you had to supply 3.7V from a more-than-1-cell-lipo battery...
Ignore then

I just registered that I haven´t written for over 5 weeks.
Here is the new arrangement of screws for the 2013 season compared to 2011.
