Not so Jev, rules for us were changed last year(?) to allow ANY tyre, obtainable or not.
Quote from the 2011 rulebook: ''Any solo bike tyre specifically designed for bike use.'' BRCA bike section 2011 rules here. Get going with the foam and lathe is all I'd say! Well, it works on GPVs... |

(jb and jev as well) as a newb to bikes i had my first run in damp conditions a couple of weeks ago. on high millage pmt 200 grooved. (damp oil soaked track, 15-20C) do the grooved tyres make a lot of difference over the slicks in wet conditions?? or for that matter in dry conditions?? cheers a |

I also think that there es no difference in the wet. Slicks are slightly heavier. They have a better/rounder Crosssection. Profiled wear faster and heat up faster than Slicks. |

Shame they took that rule of the brca rules. It's something I would have voted against if I could have made agm. But then it is designed for northern cheating b$%^&@s "They loose their tacky compound instantly" Have you proven this? Tried them only in -0 temps on dry track? |

Of course its a bit exagerating the thing: Usually the 200 overheat very quickly when they are used somewhere above 25°C. They then are ruined for wet use.
I just dont take a chance anymore I was told that by people who now a bit more about these tire compounds than me. So I just keep a set of raintires for wet conditions ONLY. On the video I made in Lostallo I was running the 200s (supersoftspecialcompound) and the bike started going haywire after 2 Laps. That on a 15°C Track Temp with curly inserts without heating them. So they are not good for anything but supercold or wet/damp tracks. |

First Race last weekend in Rosenheim/Germany:
First Victory/Fastest Lap for the JABBER 2011. Nearly f'#*ed it up. Had a massive hangover saturday trough to sunday. Too much Party every evening till late. Fought my instable condition with...... beer during the day. Under the line: lots of fun, lots of laughter after a winter not seeing/meeting all the guys. |

Yes, competitors around here are getting very good. Skills are rising exponentially.
Marc Hinder (Einibike)(Vice Champion Superbike) had some trouble with performance. Marc Lutz (SB5)(10th in Grenoble) is getting used to the SB5 after the change from the AR. I was very surprised by Axel Hellwig (SB5), never saw him before and he was VERY fast. Andy Spieß (Einibike) is highly talented you will see him performing in Lostallo at the WC. Aaron Kranewitter (SB5)(Super and Stock Final in Leipzig) is getting faster after last year was a bit bad for him. Helly Wolf is one of "my" Jabber drivers first race in Superbike and doing well. Robert Klier (SB5) (Vice Champion Stockbike) had trouble this weekend: first time out. Edmund Schmidt (??) is one of our Oldies and always does a good job. Daniel Schuler (Einibike) had bad luck I think. The winner of the B-Final Rober Kerber (Einibike) is a very good driver too but he just doesnt have the guts to show his performance in a race |

Everytime I hear "STOCKBike" it sends shivers down my spine.....
No idea who would win. He drove mine and was very pleased how it worked. I cant drive someone elses bike = not talented enough. So I guess it would be him and I would come in last but definately NOT because of the bikes just because I am not good enough to drive other bikes than mine. |

I have driven 200 charges with the 2011 this year. Just about everything is close to perfect. Rolling around not pushing the limit (while enjoying the nice weather) I can easily "cruise" a low 26sec./Lap average. Thats faster than my last years best ever times. I am playing around with weight and leaning angle at the moment to find how that interacts with each other. I saw that at the last race the Einibikes had an advantage through some turns. I think at the moment I have a little too much leaning and too less weight.
The bike itself drives a bit like a car. It takes the line I WANT to take and is very precise under all circumstances. It has a very smooth transition from max. leaning angle out of the turns doing a slight slide signaling when I am coming close to the limit. Same into the turns drifting the rear end with a very fierce trend into the apex of every turn. Somehow I have the feeling it wants to take the tightest radius all the time. There are nearly no glitches that surprise me only if I go wayyyy beyond the limit it makes a wobble or two. The transition from max. left to max. right is extremly fast either on or off power. Doing a brutal transition makes it shake a little lifting a front or rear tire then diving into the direction I steered it to. Once I really overdo my driving it slowly shows a trend of front oversteer. It is really funny: Just like a car does. Telling me "Nope!! this was a bit too fast into this turn try better next time". Other bikes dont give you this chance they just wallop the hell out of you and you loose all the self esteem you need for the next turn. Last weekend someone said: "Thats THE ideal bike for beginners" at first I wasnt sure if it was a insult or a compliment.... Everyone with more or less skills I lent the bike for a try managed to drive it around slow or fast: It must be really simple to drive. I always have trouble driving other bikes, always surprised how the guys manage to drive them...... I definately consider it a compliment now. So sad that its so expensive and I dont have the recources to put it into big scale production. |
