Throttle Tx end point adjustment and ESC
Hi
What I wanted to do: Without changing the prop, I wanted to draw less amps from my motor. For that, on my T9CAP, I moved back the end point of the throttle to 50%. It worked as I was doing it, but I have the impression each time I turn on and off the Tx that the controller finds the new endpoint and gives me the 10% power, even with a reduced throttle end point. Is it true? Can I do something else on my Tx to correct it? Thx |

Idea....
I JUST got a 9C and don't know exactly what to do, BUT I think if you somehow make the throttle full throw when you arm the ESC and then throw a switch (like dual rates) then the ESC would see it as a lower setting.
Not sure how to do this on a 9C yet, but I will learn as it sound like an interesting way to get some extra flight time for those of us with heavy left thumbs. Sean |

No matter where you set your EPA the ESC senses the total movement and sets itself for full throttle based on that! All you are doing is decreasing the amount of stick movement to go from off to full! Not a good move! The throttle stick slides! Just decrease your throttle to a setting you like... that's why it slides!

Do a Throttle-to-Throttle mix, when you throw the switch, the new end point is programmed to be lower than initial setup, no offset (a multipoint mix with graphic display helps). Also great for those ESC (eg, Cermark, FMA, Zagi) that go WOT at 1/2 stick.
Only thing you need to remember is to power on the plane (when the ESC inits.) with mixer switch off. |

Two things:
First - limiting current draw by never going to full throttle is NOT good for the ESC. Heating in the ESC is the worst around 70-80% power. Change the prop! Second - some ESCs rescale their throw to whatever they get from the transmitter, some don't. Most have some minimum throttle "throw" they must have in order to get to full throttle (it is usually pretty small). So whether or not you can do what you want (even though it's hard on the ESC) or not depends on whether you have a fixed-endpoint or self-adjusting type. |

BEC, I think you are right.
I tested the throttle to throttle mixing. Works great on jeti 18A and mega, but not really on the astro020 and his castle esc. On this one, I have first to go full throttle and then to use the switch; If I don't go full throttle, the switch does not work...strange. Well , I have ordered smaller props, but in these diameters, they are not ez to find (4.7*4.1 or 4.2), as I already draw close to 20A with a 4.7*4.7 cam prop. Thx |
