Hi Al,
Terrible thing. :-(
Yes, it's the exact place I shoot stills and video from. They haven't found the pilot yet, and the injured spectators were French tourists . They were probably on a tour bus which frequents the overlook. I hope they recover from their injuries soon.
Photos below is mine from earlier this year.

world's slowest builder

Thanks for the info Gary,

Not in a rush at the moment, just lunchtime EDF setup daydreaming

I will probably get into this build in the next month or 2. i will probably just buy one 700-68-1200 to start and an JF-80 fan and do the. The 1200kv will be easier to sell if it ends up being a bit too hot. At least we will then know what is a good warmish 12S setup in an 80...

Yeah I saw that too! Actually made me a little nostalgic for those little SkyAngel EDF's. Super article!

Yep, we did set ups for those too!

Leaving in the morning for the St. George Electric Festival. This event (in it's 4th year @ St George, is with the same great group of RC Groups folks that have been getting together (originally in Las Vegas, as the "Superfly" event) for about 13/14 years now. This is my 12 th year.

All jets are "Powered by efflux".

Hi Ed,

The price depends on what you need. The Jetfan 80 V3, motor, heat sink, inlet adaptor and assemble with dynamic balance is about $295
Please shoot me an email (email only please), and I'll get back to you with data, and links to the various options, and I'll get back to ya ASAP.
[email protected]

Here's the Jetfan chart for the JF-80 (we also have the Schubeler DS-38 AXI HDS EDFs (80mm)
For a setup that pulls 105A max with fully charged batts and will fly for 4 1/2 mins look at the 700-60-1738 motor. (130 mph top speed, averaged upwind downwind, on "high" timing ). For a hotter set up that will do close to 140, look at the 700-60-1865. Flight time will be shorter and you'll need a Castle Edge 130, with 2 ea, 4s, 5000's for that one.

Here's my 8s Avanti flying (with the 1738kv motor)

Gotta hit the hay soon, as I have an 8 hour RV trip to Utah in morning and I'm still packing.

Thanks.

Avanti 80mm Jetfan maiden & 130 mph avg'd radar runs (7 min 11 sec)

We had a fantastic time (as usual) at the St George Electric Festival.
Here's a few shots of our jets.

My race Habu made a couple of rockin' fast flights, one of which was for the noon demos.

We got some radar runs in with the Havoc. With the same setup and ESC timing. The havoc is 7 mph slower than our 130 mph averaged, 8s Avanti S does. (probably due to the HUGE outlet) A custom thrust tube would help.

We also put the radar gun on my hotter, 8s shubie DS-51 powered Free wing L-39. (with 700-60-1865 motor and Castle Edge 130). That jet booked along at 138 averaged. ( 123 upwind - 152 downwind. )

Thanks to Brent (Corsair Nut) for piloting and Pat (crxmanpat) for running the Radar Gun

I still have videos to process.
