arguable, depends on your purpose. Logic switches and conditions in the 10C, extra points in the curves, so it depends on your needs. There's a lot the same between the two. It certainly will have people looking twice at this against the 10C, and the SD card may just win in the FG's favor. I have a 10C, but will get the chance to play with the 8FG, so I'm looking forward to seeing the practical differences.

I have a 12FG and having just read the 8FG manual it looks very very good. A lot of the functionality of the 12FG at half the price. What would tip it for me in favour of the 8 over the 10, would be that the 8 have independent trims for each flight mode, which for sailplanes is critical. The 10 doesn't have fully independent trims, they accumulate off the main conditions setting.

Balsadust Everywhere!!!!
I use one of these on my 12FG, there's no need to use a SD reader!!!

The biggest difference between the 12 and 8FG seems to be the lack of "conditions" on the 8FG.

I would love the new "click-weel" and backlit LCD on my 12FG....

Actually the 8FG does have two proportional sliders. You have 8 proportional channels, these are the gimbals (4), two rotary knobs, and two sliders. You can also assign two switches to control a non proportional channel if you desire.

Steve,

I caught myself and corrected once the high-res 360' pics were released last month. The 8FG looks nice.

I wonder how you get the other two channels for the 8+2 option. Is there an expander or something that plugs into the receiver data port or will you have to get a 14-channel receiver to get the extra two channels?

You'll need to use the R6014 receiver so you can get the extra 2 channels.

Only with the 12 and 14 channel radios you can get an external device (MPDX-1), you can add it to channels 11 and 12 and you will get 28 fully proportional channels.

Jay,

Well with Jets, using the 14 channel FASST receiver I've seen this:
Ch1: Elevator 1
Ch2: Elevator 2
Ch3: Rudder
Ch4: Aileron 1
Ch5: Aileron 2
Ch6: Throttle
Ch7: Flaps 1
Ch8: Flaps 2
Ch9: Landing gear
Ch10: Spoiler
Ch11: Wheel brakes
Ch12: 3-position switch engine aux ( shutdown, standby & smoke option),
Ch13: Rx Voltage monitor
Ch14: Rx Backup power supply

You can also use extra channels for bombs/bomb bay doors, conopy etc.

I don't know where you can use all the 28 channels, but you know what, at least you have the option if you need it.

doing gear/gear door sequencing in the TX would be one way to fill a bunch of channels, along with bomb drops and scale details like pilot heads, canopies, pop-out ladders, folding wings, blah blah blah.
