The Shoestring

Well I ended up buying this one. Power 25 1250kv. Will start with 3S and 9x6 to get trim and used to it. Then will move up to 4S with 8x8. This should be a lot of fun.

Kev, I had it out there but decided not to maiden due to erratic winds. Flew the Formosa a couple times and then the last attempt.....SPLATTTTT!!!! Not sure what happened but it looks like the motor mount broke loose. Foam airframe ist kaputt! All the other goodies survived. Guess I'll just have to order another one. It was a blast to fly.

I have a small tabletop grill and a 2 burner hot plate that I will be bringing. Also some tater salad and burgers. (Catsup, mustard, and relish) Will also bring some sodas in the cooler. I plan on being there around 9:00. The weather is supposed to be around 80 or so. Couldn't ask for better conditions.(Maybe little/no wind would be nice. I'll put in my request.) If it's too windy, make sure you bring your kites. Lol

Looks like mild (~5-10mph) wind and mid 70's temps. I'll try and remember to bring my stunt kite just in case the grass ends up leaning to the side like it is right now. I'm bringing my 2 usual out of town visitors, drinks, snacks, and probably some hot dog fixins. I haven't flown in almost 3 weeks... I can't wait!

FolsomFlyers.org

I've set up a free email list on Google groups along with a website called www.FolsomFlyers.org. On the site there's a map that shows the good park flying locations in Folsom that I'm aware of.

Subscribe to the email group to get info on flying locations, events and meeting up with local park flyers. See you at the park!

Finaly took some pictures

So I finally took some pictures of the place I was talking about. There is a NO PARKING sign on the barricade blocking the street, but not on the street just to the west. And I still don't see any NO TRESPASSING signs on the field to the east. I hope these pics are in the right order

I checked out that spot earlier this year and it does look promising as an alternate site. You are aware that many spots, including this one, have google street view 360 panoramas if you zoom in low enough. This makes checking out a few of these roadside spots a little easier from the desktop.

Street view is a great tool, but there is something to be said for hi res pics. It seems like every time i'm trying to read a sign on street view its blurred out or there is a tree in the way. And years of working construction i'm used to having to take pictures of locations because it usually takes years before google even knows there is a road there, let alone send their street view car there.
