JasonJetskis BLUFO! THE sub micro bl quad thread!!

Hello All!

I made this thread to show off Jason's full bl #8 ufo!

I think he is too modest!

Kudos to him!

hopefully we can gather here to talk about about sub micro bl quads!

we all want them!

you know you do!

I just want to do stationary barrel rolls over my coffee table is all!

is that too much to ask?

so without further ado, here is the smallest bl quad I have seen to date!

The BLUFO! (0 min 41 sec)

lets hear it for Jason!

now let the fun begin...............

just did the 2 blade mod on my ufo

definitely love it

more pep, more airspeed,less parts, and less wind resistance- especially noticeable when dropping it fast

does have ever so slight jitter in hover- but barely noticeable

also motors seem to be running a little hotter

but over all a great mod

mk,

So are we abandoning the UFO#8 thread for this one?

Just curious.

Mornin alll!!!!!
Is this where the party's at?
I bought some beer and pretzels.
Thanks MK,
I was a little bummed last night after working on the Blufo most of the day only to end the day with a lazy motor and no found reason ......Yet.
I should start with a parts list first.
I bought the HP02T motors from Rotor Fever at $30.00 each x 4
Or they can be bought from Terence On this page
Also the Walkera Brushless tail ESC's can be found there for $15.00 each x 4
Then I went Here and bought Blades $9.00,Rings $3.00,Main shaft set $16.00,Receiver $60.00.
I bought a few of the CJ power lipos too....They are good!

So,Just to sumarise.
Receiver========$60.00
HP02T motors x 4==$120.00
WK tail ESC's x 4==$60.00
Blades==========$9.00
Rings===========$3.00
Main shaft set====$16.00

So as you can clearly see,It all adds up to just under $100.00 Wink wink!
The frame I just made from a couple of 12.5mm CF strips epoxied into a cros patern and used 4 x rejected tailcases from www.micro-heli-concepts.com
I need to do more work,But that is a start for now.

I never abandon a thread- just let it die if it is its time

think that one will go strong for a while

will kill this thread if Jason wants to do his own

but couldnt resist

hmm - so if we wanted a bl cheaper, maybe a hk 2g- for about $10 each

I am thinking those motors are too high a kv, and need to drop a few 1000 kv?

also the 1 g 3a esc should be ok too- not much cheaper, but lighter

I've been ignoring the UFO as of late and having fun attempting to get a full brushless MIA 4#3 to fly well.

What's the 2-blade mod?

2 Blade mod is simple,
Take the rings and 1 set of blades off each rotor leaving "2 blades"

Can't say that I have done any testing to see if it is better using the upper or lowers.

Who's the motor rewind gurus here?
My Starboard (Right side) motor is only going at a slow speed and it is getting warmer than the others even with the blades removed.
Because the motor is getting warm,I feel it is a motor shorting out.
Today,I got maybe a 30 second flight where I was impressed,but then the wobbles arrived and then I was inverted. No damage though.
Should I try to rewind the motor myself,or just buy a new ESC and motor to play safe?
So many options,so little time.

Hi all,

I was under the impression the wk 2gm BLs weren't servicable. From my very limited knowlege, you need more turns on the stators to lower the Kv rating. you might check with Dylwad. He seem to know some about this. I also recall a chart that will give you kv's/wire gauge and turns. don't remember where off-hand.

that hub design was exactly what I was thinking of.

Bill

Hi Jason,

I've found on some of the HP03's the windings are not soldered properly where they tie together in the motor. Don't know about the Walkera motors but you might check and see it this is the case with your starboard motor.

Cheers,
John
