No scale on it either Pete but the pilot house door is doll house size or 1/12th.The stern goes under further than yours does so there is room for the wheel and it's a 2 1/4'' 4 blade midwest.

These are basically called deck boats. Some have cranes some don't. They're used in construction work. etc. This boat is a lock tender and used for maintance and light repairs at locks and dams.

r/c ships and workboats
All else fails, you could cut tunnels into the hull a bit to allow sufficient water flow over the props and rudders.

The props I have are 1-1/8th" and fit in a 1-1/4 PVC tube just right. I've always wanted to try my hand at a jet boat and this one may be the one. The PVC will bend easily by heating it up but I need something inside the pipe to keep it from deforming during the bending process. If I can make that work then the rudders can be full size and will give a lot better turning. Reverse will be standard as the tunnels will be below the water line. Turning in reverse will most likly not be too good but we'll see. Pete

25mm propellers should give plenty of shove. If you encase them in the PVC tube ala kort nozzle, then with rudders behind it, you should be good to go. you could also if you needed, adjust the thrust angle slightly to get a little more down angle, this will mean you can have 30mm props.

btw Nord Icelandia has 2x 30mm props and she sails fine

I have bent white and grey PVC pipe without it deforming. I roll the tubing on the ground and warm it with a torch. When it just starts to get flexible start your bend. I have saved many a trip to the hardware store by doing this.

if you push a coilspring into the pvc tubing than you can bend it with out kinks. after bending you pull the spring out.

I tried to bend some PVC schedule 40 and it kinked up really bad on the inside bend. That's not going to work. The spring would probably work if the PVC didn't get too hot but finding a spring the right size may be difficult.
So here is a little drawing and some questions;
1) Does the tunnel have to be a smooth curve? What if it isn't like the drawing?
2) Does it make a lot of difference were the prop is located in relation to the curve?
3) Is the rudder shaft best in the middle or toward the stern more?

I've seen a pic of a jet drive using PVC pipe and a 45 degree coupling. Have to see if i can find it again.

I would of said that the sharp edges in the 'tube' will induce turbulence in the water flow... and less power at the prop..

But I'm not a hydrodynamics expert..

I agree Toes but wondered if the fact that the water is being pulled through the tunnel by the prop rather then being pushed as with a pump, would make any difference?
The PVC with a 45 or maybe a 120 elbow might work for this too. Need to check into that. At least the inside of the curve would be smooth and that's better. Pete

Norgale if you take a file to the inside of your pipe and file the wall down till it has a sharp thin edge and than push it in your 45 than you reduce or would have no turbulences. Since the pieces are not very long you probably could smooth it further out inside after glueing.
