Pushboat

As I stated somewhere on here I have a bunch of scrap wood I want to use up and this is what I want to build. I am going to use everything that I have on hand and not buy ANYTHING for this build. Now lets see what I can come up with and all suggestions are welcome. Pete

My scrap pieces are a bit bigger, giving me more leeway, but go for it, Pete---.

Great, I love these kind of builds! I've would like to eventually build a boat like this myself, I live near the Atchafalaya River and see them pushing barges all the time. I was just looking at plans for models last night. I'll build one eventually.

Green-boat--Yup! It's doable alright.

der Kapitan I'm goin' for it even with all the little bitty pieces I want to use up. Just can't bear to chuck a good piece of wood.

Keith I'm with you. Notin' like cobbeling something together out a nuthin'. Been doin' it all my life, Ha!

Now here is the backbone of the pushin' boat. Needs a good strongback to push all them barges up the river. I'll do a bit more tomorra. Pete

Geez Pete, looks like you're headed down Springer alley. Perhaps that is the right direction. Got one? After all, Springers are best built with scrap. That's what I did.

WB it won't have the typical Springer "belly" but may end up similar to the look. I'm thinking about twin screw with Kort steering or maybe home made jet drive, either one out the back under the stern. But we need a hull first. Pete

Keith, sounds like you're in the heart of Cajun country, 'cause that river runs
right through it---.

Right on the north end, where the Red River ends and the Atchafalaya starts. Just north of Simmesport.

The boat is looking good by the way! What kind of power do you plan to put in it? I'm not familiar with boats. Would two geared 400 drives work well?

I'm not building to any scale. It's all just off the top of my head. I remember the Mongo but can you post a picture of it? What scale was it? Pete
