Im extremely happy with it. It took minor trim, like one click down and one click left on the aileron to make it fly just about perfect.
I heard neighbors blurt out, crap look at that. all I can say, is this is the best high wing flyer Ive made yet.

I got lucky it was pretty much balanced right from the start.
I let it run across the grass to test out the wheels and they worked.
I then give it some power and gave it a hand toss...it flew out pretty good, had to give it a click left on the aileron and a click or two down but other than that, flies great....landing went very well.
Had a family dinner today, took the biplane out to show the nieces and nephews and their dads....I felt froggy and went for broke, doing inverted, and all kinda other funky aerial manueavers I dont know the names of, I was sweating when it was over, hope noone noticed but everyone was impressed with the plane.
I would say all in all, that was a good day. Thanks to Daltons inspired designs.

Nothing serious, take off, left turn, right turn, figure eight, a loop and landing. Do this every day......
So thanks for the EA...
Dalton - certification could not have gone better. Actually had one of those rare "perfect" landing.
The guy that was the instructor was pretty impressed with this plane. Kept saying, Wow - that is scratch built - wow......

Wow this motor has some power to spare on this plane! I pulled back the throttle and she leveled off beautifully. She flew great, nice and slow, no trim needed at all. 3/4 throttle makes her disappear straight up w/o hesitation and FAST. I somehow wound up with an incredible amount of aileron throw and so had to cut it down to about 50% to make it a bit more fly-able. Even so, rolls were tight. Loops were so tight I was afraid the prop would catch up with the tail . This plane turns on a dime... very nice.
Great plane. I'm glad I built this one... It's a keeper.
Dalton, Thanks for sharing your designs and taking the time to post plans and support everyone's builds!
I forgot to mention...
The plane managed to get the attention of a number of by-standers. The fact that I could hold a conversation and fly this plane at the same time shows how nice and stable the plane is. Once I landed the plane people were amazed that it was scratchbuilt from DOW fanfold foam and running electric. After answering many, many questions I sent a few people home to their computers with the URL to RCGroups and directions on how to find the thread.

It was gusting to about 13-15 mph or so. It was that irritating type of wind that keeps fooling you into thinking it's nice and steady, but once you get near the tree tops there is so much turbulence and gusting that the plane gets tossed here and there. I adjusted the battery to bring the CG to between 30% and 35% of the chord and tossed her up (no landing gear), a bit nose heavy for aerobatics. Well, she did very well dealing with the wind even though the wind was trying to ruin my day. What scares me on windy days is not really the flying, but landing. Even though there was quite a bit of gusty turbulence, the big ailerons on the wing were able to get her down nice and level with a gentle landing.
I went back out towards sunset with no wind and man was it fun to fly. I flew through two batteries before it got to dark to see orientation and had to stop flying. I may have to start decorating this plane. She has earned it after a few good "missions".

I realized today that I have to make up cards with all the info about the EA so I can hand them out. Here is a quote "You can tell it's a hand built plane by how well it flies and what it can do".

I have already found out that it will fly great inverted, but want to tighten up the loops and rolls. Actually, this is the 2nd of many planes I have built of blue foam that is consistent in take offs and landings, and seems like it is always in my control. Thank you, Dalton for a great design. Carl

I also want to built the round top biplane that you designed, but haven't found what motor you put in yours to make it fly so nice. Could you fill me in on that? About what all up weight did it come out to? Since I am 81, I like the slow planes, and can keep up with them better. Thanks for all the help you give me and the many others that write in to you. You a credit to this great hobby, and make it possible for others to be successful at it. Thanks a million. Carl

As I said before, very happy with it, thanks Dalton. Gino: Taubate,SP,Brazil

After moving up from inexpensive brushed, 3 channel RTF to brushless (SlowStick and Parkzone Super Decathlon), I thought it was time to step up to 4 channel with ailerons. Maiden flight went surprisingly smooth and I soon realized that flying with ailerons was not as difficult as I expected. So I'm looking forward to geting more flight time with this EA and gaining confidence with ailerons. Thank you, Dalton!

I don't like to wring em out on the first flight. Usually after 2 if nothings cracked or trying to come loose I givemhell. Came around to check the stall speed, it's really low and no wing tip drop. That's great for a low winger. Second time around I put it down right where I started from and power rolled right to my car. Nice. Dan

It's a good flier. Stays in whichever direction you direct it and doesn't seem particularly affected by light winds (not tested in heavier winds). It also glides surprisingly well and keeps good speed at full throttle. Thanks for making the design available. Merlon: Norway

But as from the start, the ellipso is hands down my favorite plane of this type, its just flat works.

By the way, the plane flew great (thanks to DaDesign for the Ellipso plans) until the motor flopped off.

Id been getting it up real high, then cut the throttle to 1/4 or so, let it slowly decend....well...I decided to cut the throttle completely once, and realize, it glide so slow its not even funny....breeze come along it seemed stuck in the air, like it was never gonna come down.
Was alot of fun...does what I hoped it would.

It was disappointing that I did not have a second battery ready. I can’t say enough about the landing gear design. The grass was to high and the wheels to small but the worse that happened was popping the gear out of place on the controlled crash-landings. Jerry

I liked the smaller EA Mamba version I built previously (good size for transport) so I continued with the 32" wing and kept the fuselage according to the PDF plans (unlike the EA Mamba fuselage which was larger to fit a 3S lipo pack). But to accomodate the battery, I built an enlarged "cowling" where the lipo fits snuggly. Other than that, this was almost the same as the EA Mamba with a different color scheme. All parts and electronics were used from the damaged EA Mamba so it was a fairly simple build!
I had the day off today and took my new EA LW out for her maiden flight. (Sorry no video or photos) She was an excellent flyer with little trim and no crashes! The KFm2 made a huge difference and I'm thinking that maybe the way I built the "cowling" also provided some stability like an airfoil step for the fuselage. I didn't really need to push her beyond half throttle except for loops and rolls which she handled quite well. But she is solid and light enough to take full throttle like a little rocket!
Thanks again for sharing the plans and keep the mods coming! Steve

As I was alone at the field I did a few take off's directly from the table. Didn't manage to get any successful landings on the table though as the plane always rolled over the edge...
I had a blast and I'm already planning for a couple more Ellipso's in my fleet so I think you have really created a winner here Dalton!
