Pilot-1 Stinson 1/8 Scale

Pilot-1 Stinson 108 Red/Cream 1/8 Scale ARF

Golden Age Classic, easy to build, transport and fly
50-3/4" wingspan, 38-1/2" long, 345 sq. in. wing area, 41-1/2 oz. flying weight (with 7.4 oz. battery). True to scale classic for those who love elegant design and gentle handling. All laser-cut balsa and ply construction accurately pre-assembled and pre-covered in genuine Oracover.

Has attractive scale details that make this handsome aircraft stand out at the flying field. Fiberglass engine cowl with chrome-look air intake grills, and fiberglass wheel pants. Aluminum landing gear with airfoil covering and plastic fairings that blend to the fuselage. Pre-built and covered wing struts. Wings slide onto carbon wing tube and are held in position by a screw tab. Airplane can be built with either one or two elevator servos (2 elevator pushrods included) and uses pull-pull rudder control; each aileron has its own servo.

The clearly written photo-illustrated instruction manual shows each assembly step and offers valuable setup information for successful flying. Removing the bottom hatch (no tools required) easily accesses the battery. Flight times in excess of 15 minutes are easily possible. Requires a 4-channel radio system; we recommend a computer radio system with end point adjustments and the ability to have rudder-aileron mixing and differential aileron adjustments.

Interesting that the pictures associated with both schemes are EXACTLY the same. Just photochopped the colors.

I wish it was one of the gull wing stinsons, but I'll probably pick this one up anyway. Looks very nice.

Jay, I noticed that too. But I think the guy in the picture is just a cardboard cut-out made to hold planes, so the pictures could be authentic. Maybe in today's economy, HL can't afford real models to model their...umm...models!

You'd probably be ahead having a local sign shop make you a new set, at least time wise. I can see a 3~4 week delay, if at all, getting new decals from the vendor. But, I'd try the vendor route 1st. I usually find a logo and redo it or make my own and have them run at my local sign shop that can print to sticky back clear vinyl. The Stinson arrow logo is hard to find and I have 2 versions of it if you need it. The coloring is wrong so it/they need to be recolored and they're pretty close to the right size. HTH

I just finished my 108 last night, which I got from another club member who half finished it. There sure is little info about this model on this and other forums........ I wonder if may have been sold? Nice plane!

The Bow and arrow logo is reversed on mine too.

I have a few flights on my Stinson and really like it...no issues, flies great.

Plan on adding some floats for next spring and summer float fly events.

Thomas - what power system are you using? Will it be different with floats?

Despite this thread being outdated I hope to stir up some interest.

I'm just completing a build on the Stinson 1:8 (Blue&Cream). It's such a beautiful model but it didn't catch my attention till it was discontinued. However I hate say it's been a challenging build right from the get go. Without getting in that right now I'd like to see if you other Stinson pilots are flying and what experience youv'e had with it.
