Bored? Build this paper glider, it works great!

Found this while I was searching for info on rogallo airfoils. This thing is pretty cool I just made one, and its incredibly stable for a flying wing.

You'll need adobe acrobat reader to view this. To build this thing, you'll need a sheet of paper (i used notebook paper because its very lightweight), a pair of scissors, and a stapler.

Been there!

This is a really cool flying wing. I have made many sized and used different types of paper. I have thought about electrifying a coroplast or foam version. I think that the Carbon Falcon desing is very similar by adding a little more to the TE section with the control linkages to create an elevon effect. Pretty cool!

I made a couple last night, and was surprised by how well they flew. It was really funny when i buzzed my cat with one, which scared her and caused her to do a complete backflip :P

The best part is that the designer, Edmond Hui, doesn't think too much of himself.

Well it flew well from the 15th floor of the building I work in. Flew in nice circles but I lost site of it by the 5th floor.

Black paper and some feather effects on the TE would be nice.

Josh,

The instructions and drawings are a bit unclear indeed, but just start building it and you'll figure it out. I have just done it and it both flies and looks nice.

If the drawings are unclear, go to the homepage, www.paperang.com , and open "Construction photos" on the left side of the page. The photos are very easy to understand.

So far, my best flying gliders were made from used (fairly heavy) printer paper, with the "triangular flaps" in step 11 cut off.

Fold it accurately and trim it according to instructions -- You will have loads of fun flying it!

Another lauch from the 15th floor saw it strike the building twice before heading off towards chemistry where it got some slope lift from the building. This took it higher than it had been at launch. after that it strolled accross to Physics where it landed. Total flight time was pretty long but it needed some balast for penetration.

Cool! I used a paper clip as ballast, grabbed it by a wing tip, tossed it with a DLG launch, and it did this huge loop around me!

A zagi toss also works great, thumb under the nose, forefinger on top.

Who Says Penguins Can't Fly?

sorry guys... a little off topic;
has anybody ever taken a regular paper airplane (you know, the most popular one made of a reglar sheet of 11.5 x 10 sheet of paper, no cutting) and put a micro (RFFS) system on it with a KP00 or similar motor and done true RC paper airplane flight ? Interesting, cheap, and very quick!
Maybe an RFFS on your Paperang? Or you guys don't trust it enough carrying a $150 system and all ?

Just flowing out more ideas
