Saito 62 Help

I have a Saito 62 now in the hangar for a massave fuel leak around the cam housing. In reading another post, it stated to install the connecting rod with the dimple facing the backplate and the short piston boss towards the intake port. Having NOT removed the rod and purchasing the engine new, the dimple faces the prop and not the backplate. Is this correct? Will I still install the shorter piston boss towards the dimple? Also asking for information on cam installation and timing.

Chief, the rod should face the direction that puts this flair next to the flywheel. forget about the dot.

By looking at the conrod, not sure what the flair is?? Will it matter which way the piston is installed? Appreciate the help here

If you didn't take the rod out of the piston it has to go back correct, the flair is clearly visible on the bronze bushing, the other side is flat, this side is flaired or chamfered, I don't know which word is correct. There is a matching filet on the crankpin, (next to the counter weight) to avoid a square cut which might let the crankpin snap off. The extra bright spot on the bushing is part of the flair.

PS, the flair is a short inward taper like a funnel.

Hello all,
I found myself what I believe to be an older 72, and am going to be rebuilding the carb with the HH carb kit. Anyone have a nice link to steps/advice on the rebuild? It seems like it should be easy......

Hutch, if you have this spraybar the tiny slit goes upward toward the engine, on the .72 it may not be as easy to see as this one. Your pseudo needle valve will slide in and out over it like this one.

Yes, it pushes in through the carb body.

Got it, a fair bit of junk had built up in the spray bar assembly hole.. someone had put a fair bit of sealant crap on the fuel nipple threads. Is any of that sealant necessary?

Well , I got a e-mail from Horizon . It said my stuff shipped above the front bearing but the rear said still pending . We'll see if they both come . I figured they would wait till they had both but , oh well .

Hey Guys, I know I might be able to find this info somewhere... but wondering if I'll keep breaking the plastic Spinners (Great Planes) on my 72? I'm tempted to throw down for a tru turn, but the GP ones from tower are $3 each and match my color scheme! Is there something as good as tru turn but cheaper??? I've been starting with chicken stick, i'm not worried about starting with Electrons.
