I have the same plane in an ARF. The 115 with a 14x10 is an excellent match for it. I fly that plane a lot so I have recently swapped in a Saito FG21 to save on fuel costs. The two engines fly the plane with similar ease but the 115 gets the win for raw power output.

What could possibly go wrong?

I bet, but the FG 21 should cover just about all your flying for that model I guess?

It does. Reaches scale speed (60 mph) with a 15x8 and has more than scale thrust.

I'm not overly impressed with either of my FG21 engines really. Although they both run very sweet at all rpm once broken in and tuned neither of mine reach the benchmark number (8800 rpm with an APC 16x6 prop). Best I can get is 8700 from one and 8450 from the other. Maybe another gallon or two of fuel through them will help.

Saito 300T Crank thread size difference?

Hi,
Anyone have any information / history on the thread size for the 300T? I have two bought used, one has 10mm threads on a 10mm crank. The other has 8mm threads on a 10mm crank. No issues with this, just cannot find any info on when and why it changed. My thought is that the smaller thread is a carry-over from the 270T which has the same thread size 8mm on a 10mm crank and that at some point the thread size was then changed to the 10mm version.

Thanks,
Jeff

Glad to know that I'm not the only one to enjoy the match up of the 115 in a 60 sized mustang. I've considered the FG17 as an alternative for similar reasons (gas is cheep and easy these days). Sounds like it would have to be the FG21 to keep similar performance. I'll most likely stick with the glow but good to know.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered one. Should be a good match for a veteran Saito FA-91 that I have sitting in a coffee can looking for a foster home that involves flying.

What a great home for your Saito. The only issue I had was the white decal lettering provided with the kit is kind of thin and looks pink when installed over the red fuselage. Callie Graphics has a full set of decals.

Thanks for the heads up. Always hear good things about Callie Graphics. Time to give her a try.

Mac and Lonnie, I did a search on Horizon using the engine code for the 325-R5 which is X and nearly everything Saito makes comes up but only a single 325 part, the back plate.
