I've been able to really slow mine down, enter 'high alpha' mode with elevator, and just 'plop' it into the grass. No run out, no slide.

That's a darn shame... you learn so much by reading the posts, it can even help you avoid the big one..but oh well, sometimes you just gotta reinvent the wheel..best of luck..!

What is the best "drop-in" upgraded fan/motor combo
IMHO an ARC 28-47-1/HET 6905, the het motors may have one for better effieceincy but balls out the ARC is the shiz.

Being new to EDF, is the 6905 pretty much "drop in" and will I generally need to purchase a different motor and fan or will the fan unit work withe the factory motor?

Thanks in advance

Yes, 6904, not 6905.

Edit: or maybe they were really meaning the 6905. Where can we buy the 6905?

Get the ARC here: http://www.lightflightrc.com/HTML/pr...RC-28-47-1.htm

A wild guess would be that "Mark" is with the HET people and perhaps can sell you a "fully assembled and balanced HET unit"...

but that's just a wild guess..

But does the 6902 fan really fit into the stock frame? Or do I have to sand it down to fit since it's a 70mm fan

If I remember correctly mine dropped straight in. The 6904. Fantastic fan unit for the price! I've had the impeller jump off once, and also crashed the jet. The impeller is super strong doesn't even have a scratch.

Hi Apex,
I'm finally getting around to getting the Squall back in the air. Maybe this weekend.
For better efficiency, try the ARC 28-58-1 on 5s (~1500w) or 6s, On 5s you only need an Ice 100 ESC.
We have them as well as the 47-1 and bigger ARCs in stock.
