Great thread, loads of useful gen - thanks everyone. My Squall 4s is having a lot of trouble staying airborne after launch. My last attempt seemed a perfect launch, speeding away straight and level (flying hands off), after about 150 feet, suddenly nosed up and executed a perfect stall ending up buried in the dirt. This is the fourth time it's happened. My model is grossly overweight at 32 oz, mainly due to glassing and 30c lipo. I've been checking the CG with great precision at 60mm, but my feeling is that its still tail heavy. With a conventional airframe, I'd just put on full flaps until safe flying speed's attained. Has there ever been a delta with flaps?

i'm fairly new to the thread but have read most of it , has been mentioned a few times that cg has moved forward with increased auw , i'm sure some of the seasoned squall pilots will add more ... hope this helps

agreed, both the motor and fan are different in the 3 and 4 cell versions and the 3's will not like the 4 cell battery.

trainer, what dont you like re. the 3 cell version? just curious.

Bah! Exploded fan, damaged housing...I guess it's time to open up the 4 cell box.

Being a little nose heavy is always better that tail heavy. A heavy nose can be pointed, a heavy tail will push you around the sky.

I've got a 4 cell version and I'm going to run it with the stock equipment. It calls for a 2500mah battery but will a 30c 2200mah work? What kind of flight time would I expect?

Thanks!

I get about 4-5 minutes from my 2650mAh, so I would guess 3-4 minutes with throttle management and only a few WOT runs.

This place sells the fan and collet:

You can ask them if they sell just the collet.

How fast do you figure the stock 4 cell squall can go flying straight and level?

Question I thought it's the ESC preventing the 3S from 4S? The 3S motor should spin abit faster on 4S but maybe exceed it's specifications. Has anyone changed out the ESC and used the 3S version with a 4S?? What happend? Does this work. I'm thinking of trying this out but don't want to if it don't work. Looking for people that have tried.
