I'm guessing you too got yours from Totem and you're on the new LP fan rotor. I'd guess that I'm getting the same as you. Have you noticed a significant drop off from the origional fan?

Guys, your opinion please on the HET 3W-15 motor with HET 6904 fan in a Squall! with 4S 2500mAh 20C lipos? How would this compare to the HET 3W motor?

I'm wondering what current a 3W-15 with 6904 would produce and whether it will be pushing the lipos too hard?

I did indeed sj, but its the replacement 3 blade reduced diameter HP one. I'm a bit disappointed with the performance now, definitely not as much thrust in the air as the few flights I had on the old impeller. Only just >1 T:W now leaving little in hand to help get out of trouble, as I found out on the second flight yesterday doing some high alfa stuff: glad I was at 3 mistakes high because it took 2 1/2 to mush out of the twisty-turny-tumbling thing I got into I didnt manage any flying today, but the Squall is in the car just in case I get the chance on the way home after work this week.

all i can find is the 2W-15, which is the "2W". it's a 3S motor, i doubt it would survive on 4S, and if it did it would pull around 100 amps.

If you want to go RIGHT to the limit of your current lipos, a 2W-20 would work, but it would pull the max C rating from your packs, so if you held it full throttle the whole flight they'd come down HOT.

a 3W would be a little better, lower amps draw and power, but easier on your batteries.

Does anyone have any real numbers on thrust and watts on the replacement fan vs the old one?

The HET 3w-15 is the same thing as a 3w, they're better known as just the 3w.

Would i need to use a thrust tube, or would stock work?

I need a ballistic missile.. with wings..

stock would work, but a thrust tube will always increase performance (and taylor it to what you want).

the 28-58-1 is some serious power, if your serious about a high power setup, i suggest an ARC 28-47-1 and 6904 fan. THis will be about 1200-1300 watts on 4S. roughly 90 amps depending on timing

The 28-47-1 is $60

suppo 100amp=$40

XPS 4S 3200 30C= $80, or you could run two 4S 2200 30C's in parallel for a 4S 4400 30C, which could handle the power.

your looking at 130 mph, maybe more if you use a thrust tube down to 80%

Make your own thrust tube. 70-75% FSA. That'll make it ballistic. Test your amp draw before you fly it. It won't have as much thrust for the launch.

^Yeah, the launch is one thing I had worries about. Looks like I'd need to use a bungee launch, but just how i'm supposed to mount a hook to the plane without ripping the foam out...

Use 1" square piece of plywood with Z bend piece of 1/8" wire piece embedded into the block with epoxy. Fit the component into a whole you cut into the foam if you want to make it look like it belongs there.
