Frank, I just sent you a private message can you take a look and see if I sent in correctly? I didn't want to post it on your thread as it wasn't related to this great announcement.

Thanks Ed in Rhode Island.

Since I mentioned that I was working round the clock, so to speak, to finish two boats for the Toledo Expo, and one of the boats was the 1/6th scale 1952 Century Sea Maid, I have had a number of phone calls asking when and how much. Well the proto type with any luck will be at Toledo and the price has been set at $375.00 for the kit. Like our other scale models the kit will include everything seen on the prototype allowing the modeler to produce a static model or, with the addition of the separate power, lighting, and sound packages, a full house radio controlled model.

At the urging of AEROMINDED, I am posting some teaser photos of the Sea Maid as of now under construction.

Nice Boat Frank,
Maybe that was just a working typeface on the drawing, but I do I hope you'll use the correct Century lettering and not that quasi retro 1995 font MAGNETO that I saw on the pdf. Gotta keep it real!

The legendary Century Sea Maid

This is the one I have been waiting for Frank. Thanks for keeping the magic alive for us builders by producing these new additions to your Legend model fleet. Think about it like this, years down the road others will still be appreciating your models. What a fine legacy.

Please post the build log after Toledo and are you taking orders/deposits/payments?

Hi again! Well as you know we are back from Toledo and as I promised I am posting photos of the finished Sea Maid 18. We entered the model in the scale competition in pleasure boats and came away with second place. The response to the news that this was to be another of the new model kits from Legend Model Boats was very good with people signing up for the new release later this year. As I had promised, I am posting some pictures of the finished model for your viewing. Remember that every thing you see on the model is in the kit with the exception of the scale Gray Marine engine which was built for the scale competition. We will not be building a kit of the engine but will be including in the kit a set of cad drawings from which we built the motor. For your information, the motor alone took some 83 hours to make.

Once we get everything ready for packaging up the California Cracker Box kit, we will start posting the build of the Century Sea Maid 18 right here on this thread. It was a fun build of a classic, that was the corner stone of the Century line of boats for twenty some years.

One of the prettiest runabouts built and fast to, 46 miles per hour with her "fireball six".
That, is rippin'! On the water, speed seems double. That boat must have been a really fun ride.

Well today is the first gathering of our club at the lake site and although the turn out was small, we had a good time and a chance to try out the Century Sea Maid 18’ and put her thru her paces. We had a little set back at the lake site since the storage room were our club keeps our club tables had a broken lock and we had no tables to work off of so we commandeered a couple of picnic table for the day.

Well the Rare Wood got her bottom wet and after a few passes to see how she handled the chop in the stiff breeze we had, we are off to a great day of running on her shake down cruise. The boat maneuvers very well at all speeds and can back down to the port and starboard with no problems at all. The turning radius with this model is not to be believe, and back down into a slip with just rudder movement.

So with the wife handling the camera duties, it off to take the label pictures for the kit as well as some beauty shots for the press releases later this year.

We were running the model using two 7.2 volts NI-MH with 3300 mil amp in series hook up. I did not time the run, I must confess, but it was well over a half hour of running at mostly full speed running. So as they say in the real world, a picture is worth a thousand words, or in the words of KMOT, this thread is not worth nothing with out pictures.
