Central California Coast Model Boats

Shaun H and I had a very successful chat over lunch earlier today to discuss the possibility of setting up a Model Boat group in the form of a 'club' covering the Central Coast area of California.

As far as we are aware, there are no model boat groups between San Francisco and the Hansen Dam Irregulars in Northern LA.

We decided that our first objective would be to gauge how many boat modellers there are in the Central Coast area and if they would be interested in forming a model group.

Our aim would be (as a group) to secure some water's from one of the local City's that we would be able to run Sail, Electric and possibly gas / nitro on.. as well as welcome builders of static model boats. There was also discussion regarding a 'Monthy' formal meeting where we could discuss building / running of boats and share our knowlege between the different disciplines.
These meetings could possibly take place at a local school (with a pool ) where we could also get the kids involved in the building of model boats.

If there are boaters out there that are interested in such a group and live within the Central Coast area, please PM either Shaun or myself.

We'd take members from anywhere! Lot's of options opened up as we discussed possibilities for how we could meet if we attracted a larger geological region, but our focus area would probably be best between Monterey and Santa Barbara/Ventura.

Toesup and I live pretty much dead center in that area and if we get enough interest in the region, we'd be happy to put the work into starting up the club and getting the details worked out.

If you know of anyone in that area, send them our way!

Update:

Things are moving along and we are starting to get some response even without posting the flyers yet!

MarcRacer18 is right here and I have some advanced notice that one of the owners of our LHS might be interested in joining in. So, if you know of anyone in the area that wants to at least run with other boat-heads, let me know.

Toes- check your PM's... you are waaay behind on them! LOL!

We even have a place to run now, apparently there is a nice local pond that caters to some RC boating activities! The owners appear to like RC boats as well so we may have sponsors lined up... getting good!

Camarillo is probably closer to you desron48, but then again, so would the Hansen Dam Irregulars if you wanted something a little less formal.

We'll take anyone that wants to come along but just for sake of geocentricity, I'd be disingenuious if I didn't point out closer groups!

By the way, our website is http://cccsns.spaces.live.com and you can take a look at what is going on over there (not much since it's all 'tentative' at the time being). You can post direct inquires and emails to the club. Both Toes and I will get the emails.

We are looking at October 25th as our first get together date at Franklin Hot Springs ( http://franklinhotsprings.com/ )

This should be interesting.

RC Groups folks, feel free to post on this thread for any regarding the workings of the club, everyone else can go to the webpage.

We can take 'honorary' members (those out of the area) by just joining our Windows Live Network (you can do it even on a Mac ). If you'd like an invite, just email us at cccsns@live.com and we'll send you one.

Boy, I'll say! 100.1F, mineral water? I can't wait to see what all your boats metal parts are going to look like afterwards.

I once went into a natural hot springs, the one up in Mammoth. My silver ring, neckchain, and cross all turned black.

you'd pay good money for the chemical that does that from Micro Mark!

I hear you though, Kmot- How much of a hotspring is this?
