Well a 2-blade head you can fold the blades back over the boom and use a blade holder to help take the stress and strain off the grips and head components.

But on a multi blade head you're not able to do that and if you drive a van or a truck like myself they can take a lot of jarring around before you ever get to the flying field.

On 500 size 4 blade heads using scale blades you can do the same as two blades. I customized a wide blade holder to accommodate all four blades and fold back.
On a 5 blade, that's a different story, I assume best take the blades off.

On the five blade you make something up front to hold two and one in back for three

I have done that, however, it's probably safer to fold back three of them and remove just two. It's not worth getting to the field to find out that you have vent links due to unecessary roughness on the road.

Not to mention when you go up into 600/700 size it does become an issue. I have a large SUV and even with the blades removed I bearly have room to place the 600 Tow Defender sideways.... as I have to pack three other heli's, tool cases, battery cases, etc, along too

I have seen some guys mark each holder and each blade. That way they are sure to get them back in the same holder.

You guys just need a custom heli hauler...

also works for other stuff...

As far as the blades go, I remove the blades for transport if it's got more than two...

Very Cool Rodan.
Still trying to figure out how to fit my IndyHeli's 7 foot Apache in my latest ride.

Yup Ed. When you get to be my age, you are going to lose your driver's license one of two ways. Either your kids are going to try to take it away or the police are. I'm voting for the Cops.

That's why there's a 580 HP Supercharged 2012 ZL 1 Camaro in my garage. Next up, if I'm still using oxygen, will be a 2014 Corvette ZR 1.

The big Apache has been sold to a chap in Switzerland and the majority of my heli and plank collection will be on the block and for sale in the next three months.

Damn damn, had my eye on that one. Just couldn't raise the funds. But never forgot. Hope it goes to a good home.
Sorry to hear your selling your stuff...

Nice Camaro, Boyd!

Sorry to hear you're selling your fleet... there's definitely some very nice birds in there!

Thanks for the props guys. I'm still going to be into the RC flying hobby. It's just time to clear the hangar and start with some new birds. The fleet pricing will be minimalist, so don't miss out.
