Here's a video from Sunday of my scale AH-6, 450 size. It was shot with a GoPro HD camera. Thanks for watching and happy flying!

Scale Trex 450 and Trex 500 using GoPro Hero (4 min 35 sec)

Thanks guys! The fuse is from RC Aerodyne, (Heliartist fuse, but without the cutout for the tail so a left side tail can be done without patching). The head mounted on a SEV2 is a hodge podge of T450 Pro flybar head block, 450 Pro FBL grips, Pro main shaft, RC Aerodyne "USA made" swash driver, MiniProtos linkage, T500 links, SEV2 swash with longer outer balls, T250 3G flybar guage holder, T250 flybar, some CF tube, and some Dubro wheel collars along with Smartmodel scale UH1 blades, whew . Swash is lowered so that 4.5* negative pitch is allowed before it hits the top of the frame, hides the swash better in the fuselage. I call this contraption the "Sorta-Scale 450 UH1 head"

That is really nice Sideways, Flys really smooth. Do you have a beast-x in it or just really good on the sticks? Good show whatever the case!.

Thanks. It's a BeastX. I'm still working on setup, got a bit of the shakes on the elevator side. It flys locked-in, but I have the Pot 2 way low to minimize them (I have no idea how that affects it, but the main gain isnt the route to fix that). I suspect much of it has to do with the 50gr blades, along with using analog servos (HS65). Or some sort of vibe issue from the 'lumpy' balance this head setup has that can be felt. I'm going to throw some normal blades on next to diagnose what could be done for this. In a dead hover it is A-1, but getting jostled by wind or aggresive stick inputs starts the shake

While setting it up to be smooth with the HS65s might seem the best way to start, and I'll bet most would agree, but if it were me, I'd upgrade to digital servos first, and do the head balancing in addition to that. You know eventually you will want to do it anyway, so why risk dumping the heli when the BeastX is ready to perform better with the faster servos, even if you still have some trimming and balancing to do on the airframe.

Yep, I know they are weak in initial travel, like with FBL use...but I hate spending the $$ since they are 1/2 way ok and on hand already . Gotta see if Hobbyking has stock of the D202MG's at $19 still, used up the last batch in my other projects. Gotta wonder about those heavy blades too, turned the gain all the way down to see what those are like 'non FBL'...real slow, lots of inertia. Thankfully the shake is very minor, but I still see it so eventually I'll get going on that

Little update on my trial of normal blades on the UH1....bad bad bad, lol. As I'm running 1750 headspeed (5.4:1 tail ratio, 2100kv 13T), combine the analog servos to the lack of natural 'stability' running light blades slow...I saw quick this wouldnt work too well. Back on the scale blades, and the final tune shows an occasional hint of elevator bobble. Digitals to go in eventually as other somewhat similar BeastX setups I have work great on digital servos

Real helis reference pics gallery

Hello pilots!

Not scale helis pics, but it can be useful for some scale projects. These pics were shot during the Cambrai Niergnies meeting (held in conjunction with the last Tiger Meet): 2 EC665 Tigre, 2 Mi24-35, 2 UH1-212s, 1 Puma and 1 Alouette 2.
To see the slideshow you can double click on a pic or click on the small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
