Help!

Identifying specific model of Picco .67 marine

Hi- I have this Picco .67 marine engine, and I'm trying to find out if I can identify the specific engine model as it needs new bearings. I've attached a photo if it helps; the water jacket on the head was originally silver (not blue.) The only markings are the "PICCO" cast into both sides of the block, and the "P-67" you can see that's stamped into the mounting ear. This engine is (obviously) a disc rotor inlet, and does not have needle bearings on the crankpin.

Hello:

This is a vintage Picco P67 marine, produced around 1985 - 1987.

The water-cooled head/cylinder components have been painted or colored blue. Normally these parts come a clear anodized tone.

These are very good engines when set-up properly (better carb, RPM rod, etc.,...).

Yes indeed, the carb on the larger Picco of the period were very crude, the .21 P-5 was the only one with a two needles carb! A nice engine in its time for 1/8 scale hydro.

The older .67's used the same case as the .80's so it was hard to tell the difference without a tear-down. Sneaky racers would enter a boat in the .67 class. These engines sadly have a connecting rod problem. Trying to find a replacement is just about impossible anymore. Brad Christy was making some but I don't know if he's doing them yet.

Brad used to hang out on www.intlwaters.com , a mostly nitro forum site.
I just saw him about 5 weeks ago so I know he's still racing. Once in, you can ask in there for him.
