Linear vs Regulated power supply, differences?

I am considering picking up a DC power supply to use with my GWS MC-2002 charger. The vendor I am considering sells both linear and regulated power supplies, and I have no clue what the difference is. If someone could be kind enough to explain this I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

B

There is no 'comparison' between the two, they are not opposite terms. You can regulate voltage with either linear (analog, i.e. the BEC circuits built into ESC's) or non-linear (switched i.e. the UBEC external regulator) circuits. Both regulate the voltage effectively, one (switched) is more efficient under heavy loads.

Thanks for the quick response. So it sounds to me like they will work just fine.

Thanks,

Edit: Oh and if anyone is curious, this site has refurbished power supplies fairly cheap.
