Martin Mars

Hi Guys,

Not really a heavy poster here as im more the IC water plane type guy TBH so post over there in the other place, but since this bird is electric it's probably the best place for it. Decided to share the odd picture as these plans can be quite tricky in places so I may be able to save the next poor sole some misery in places.

Just a quick note of thanks to Rudderman and Falconhob for the pictures they took as they have alreay helped me in places. Although I wish someone had mentioned about not sheeting anything untill the sides of the fuselages are drawn togther!

I dont expect it to be as good as those to because if I cant build it with in 6 months I'll get bored!

Hi Scott,
Very good progress there indeed and where else would you want to post an IP build? Definitely no sheeting until all is assembled!

Very imposing model! Too big for me, but I'll surely enjoy watching it go together!

OH they look wonderful in the air; both model & full size. They lumber along so slowly.

No I have not built one. I own Ivan original. I don't have the skill or time to build one of these beauties. I was just fortunate to be able to purchase Ivan's model.

Gonzo,

You are indeed a luck man, but the build is very important to me, models I aquire and swap meets only tend to stay with me 6 months then get sold on . . .

Please can you tell me what power train you are running? Motors, Props, ESC and batteries etc . . . whats the performance like?

Oh, wheres that picture?

Spent Saturday morning doing the rear lower sheeting, some of the plan is questionable at best but with a little improvisation it seems to have come together ok, some sections of the plan you stare at for ages but its not until you actually do it you know 'how' your going to do it if that makes sense.

Falcon thanks for your side rear view much help - I ommitted the lower curved former it just didnt do anything . . . oh well saved some weight, the glass with be mostly responsible for strength in any case . . .

Wetted some soft 1/16th and laid and pinned it to the structure over some old solar film backing so the moisture did not get into the main structure whilst it dryed.

siddus you just don't know how jealous I am when I see what you can achieve on a saturday morning; both quality & quantity. When people call me a hacker they don't mean I am a computer nerd.
