Very rare French diesel


I thought some of you gentlemen may be interested in this engine on eBay France.

It's an ultra-rare M.R.S. 1.25 cc (made in Paris in mid-forties), generally a bit like an Allouchery but with very significant differences.
The needle is missing and the seller doesn't know what it is, although he thinks it's an Allouchery.
The hilarious bit is that the seller has been informed by a French intellectual that it's an Eta .29 (Honest!!!). Actually, I suppose the guy meant an Eta '5', but it's still funny!

Like many of the real early diesels, the link to Dyno is obvious....
Makes me also think of the likewise ultra-rare Pinotti diesel, made by Giancarlo Pinotti, Italian immigrant to Sweden...

Very nice. Eye watering price though.

Confirms what I tought when I had a look in that book by Holc and Molinié.
Anybody bidding on this one ? If you are I will not interfere since French engines are not my forte.

Reginald, have you ever run the super charged OS 120?
If so, what is the expected power boost, compared to the regular OS 120?

I did completely strip this one but never ran it, but I did run the other production version I have. Did have two Lazy Ace bipes both with the Surpass Mk2's but comparing on a bench ? Cannot remember revs and dyno and lost notes. But pilots I know quickly swapped the engine for a Yamada. I also remember that the importer sent me a new better? pump diafragm for the Surpass engines. One has to fly the engine in a plane I feel to be able to really compare. The MK2's were a dream and mounted inverted. With on-board

Is the OS "under-piston" supercharged, like the YS?

Or, is it something more sophisticated?

The OS engine shown by Reginald has a real official Roots blower on it.

Have a look in the internals of the OS SC Blower. Kept these parts from a crashed engine the importer gave me. It's basically two figure 8's running into each other. Very very closely.
