Thanks Twin-Stack. Diesel Resurgence (1991), too bad it wasn't for 2011! I would guess that when the present generation is long gone, electric will probably be all that's left. My friend Chad came out with a 6S , 5000 ma LiPo, 16 inch prop, on his model and it went better than a .90 glow...seems to be the new trend;
and they do have perfect throttle response, never cutting out at the last moment!

Yeah that is very likely true, but the electrics can still crash and burn.

im not sure if pointing face at the exploding gasses is the best way to put out lipo fire

i have to admitt to me it seems most of my engines will soon be cleaned and shelved due to the ease of use of lipo and the cost effective nature of brush less systems now
ill always keep em but i prefer running them on stands now

This is also one of the strong points of diesels versus glow, as long as the tank is not empty...

That engine looks like they were using the crankcase for the fuel tank too. So it may not be really all that heavy.
I wonder how well that worked. I would think the fuel would heat up causing the ether to evaporate faster. But maybe for short free flight runs, it would not be a problem.

Well, I did'nt know that. I do not think I have seen this method on any other engine. You really do some nice research.

The "4" on the engine is not a serial number but indicates the type of engine, I know because I do have one of these, think I already put up a picture of it in an earlier page.
