Ecellent information on the Bugl 2.5 diesel

Thanks

Reginald, thanks for going to the trouble of “opening up” the Bugl. I’ve never seen this set up before. This has to be one of the most complicated 2.5 cc model diesels ever made. And also a work of art.

Greg, that was a great link for information. The author wasn’t kidding when he said that the cylinder had generous Schnurle porting. Also a very unique way to fasten the rod to the piston. And weight reduction, only 98 g vs the MK3 OT at 175 g. What a “gifted, dedicated artist” the man was.

Yes Charlie, your pictures would be nice. Let the rest of the enthusiasts see what these little diesels are pulling around ( .5~.6 hp in 500 to 600 g models). Not for the faint of heart.

And lastly, lets not be negative against Mr “V”. He does turn out some beautiful engines. We all enjoy these little diesel, so the more the merrier.

Needle valves

I'm trying to locate needle valves for the Taifun Hurrikan 1.5 and the Webra 2.5 R diesel engines. Can you help me out?
Thanks

Very nice Charlie. I hear that SR is not going to be making any more of those diesels.
They are actually much better than an OT.
Jsesere, you may not find an "original" needle valve, but if you want to run the engine just adapt a total unit (spray bar/needle from another engine) that will fit in the existing spray bar holes.

If you aren't trying to restore the engines to their original condition but want to run and use them, the PAW needle valve assembly should work in most cases. There are a couple of guys on Ebay that sell the PAW needle valve assemblies. They also sell the Enya needle valve assembly, but it tends to be too large for the small engines.

Nice twin engine. But I am tapped out for a while, I already blew all my budget and then some on a nice engine. So I'll have to pass.

My friend Don Scott bought one of those twins (30 years ago) in a LHS.

The cylinders are from a Jena diesel.

Jena engines were manufactured in East Germany by the Zeiss optical company

See the link for model engine collection, R.L. Engineering. By

Reginald Luycx ( le Duc). He visited this thread a little while back.

...and just like the Zeiss optical products, the engines were 'good ones' too......here is my little 1 cc Jena, with its unusual sideport configuration.....
