They come in 1.5cc and 2.5cc sizes in various coloured anodised heads. Quite a pretty plain bearing motor ideal for sport flying IMHO. I have not had one for a long time, but did have several in both sizes come in from China back in the mid to late 80s, that were sold on for the above purpose. YIN YAN in Mandarin was the original name of them that I believe translates to SILVER SWALLOW in English.. They seem to be often on eBay so if they are 'old stock' or being remade I'm not sure. I have a feeling CS may have been or be involved. |

I have a 2.5 silver swallow. Bought new in about 1988 but the stamp on the box said it was manufactured in 68. There was a story at the time that someone found/discovered a container/wharehouse etc. (depending on who tells story) of these engines, that had been siting in china for 20 odd years. Mine is a dog on the big venturi, small one supplied is better.Maybe after running in it would be better with the big venturi. Some people swear by them.I have seen one throw the shaft, it sheared off at the induction hole.Prop etc. lost in orbit.
At the timer the 'mars 'diesel from russia was the same price -about$28-32 AUD and about as popular.I never had the Mars but I think it was heavier. |

When requiring higher revs (C/L Combat, T/R etc...) and using smaller props, the situation is obviously different... |

The DC 350 brothers... bought both for about $20USD. Never got around to running the glow. The diesel runs ok but needs a locking screw.

A tad noisy but quite a powerful & easy handling engine. Power to weight is good.DC Merlin ... or is that super merlin) a friend gave me the spinner nut)|

A good sports engine, needs some more running. Very pleasant looking finning in my opinion.
