and Kevin, don't ya love all the space in those things! that and the big canopy, Leaves a lot of room to make a nice big scaled cockpit. I also had the thought this would be a prime in cockpit cam plane.

So these planes actually fly? I thought they were like the old yellow/blue plastic Cox PT19's that fathers used to buy for their kids back in the control line era. Could be a decent, cheap way to get into bigger EDF models. Not sure about a 90mm fan in one, though, very draggy airframe?

I have had 3 of these models over quite a long peroid of time, we had a lot of flying with all 3. The first was powered by a Wren Super Sport and we had it for 2 years or so. It had a foam wing and retracts with wire legs. We flew off grass as well as tarmac. Eventually we stalled it in when experimenting with larger flaps. The second one was a made up wing and was powered by a MW44. It met its end when the tailpipe split and burned a hole in the fuselage, it still landed under control in one piece. The 3rd was a replacement that had all the internals transplanted from the second one. This was lost due to transmitter failure. All flew exceptionally well especially in high winds. I fitted a gyro on the 2nd and 3rd ones and it was always nice and solid in the air. The weights varied from 11.5 to 12.5 lbs and it undoubtably flew better with the smaller engine and lighter weight.

Dont be surprised if they fly well with EDF. I think they make one of the best choices currently available as they have nice big intakes with rounded lips and a register for your fan. Just because it is inexpensive do not discount it. Dont forget Steve Haynes first foray into EDF was with one of these and I saw it fly with, I think, 8 lbs thrust.

I am almost as surprised as you, but unfortunately it flies great so i might have to go back and make it pretty ... maybe.

not sure on the current draw of my specific fan (installed or uninstalled). Paul was seeing around 90 amps with his version. i would expect i am a little higher with my packs, its pushing pretty hard. Paul was using 20c zippy's. I will have more info this weekend.

The first flight was with a Pleti on 10s and we were registering 5.8 Lbs of thrust, the upgrade to a lenher 2250/16 got that up to 8lbs at 2,800 watts (100mm outlet, did not know better at the time), did not actually improve the performance that much.

How things have move on eh?

I saw this model fly last saturday and it flies awesome. Very impressed with its performance.
If it could be made lighter it would improve the landing qualities.
Kevin handled it like a PRO and now has his own POS Red Rocket!
Definately a cheap way to enter big edf's

Steve Kevin tells me you had a big part in his success too!

He told me that you said it was a great flier and how well you thought it would fly with one of the current edf/motor units and Lipolys and you were right!

Wasn't that current EDF/motor combination a Dyn-E-Max Fan /scorpion motor?
