I could then just touch up the white areas and be done. The weight of the paper couldn't be much more than the weight of painting the entire bird. I also would peel the areas to be glued. Just looking for any thoughts on this!

I used to leave the paper on my planes because I liked the stiffness, but the paper is almost half the weight of the foamboard. The paint is about 1/4 to 1/2 of the weight of the paper depending on how heavy you apply it

Do the rubber bands work good on that steerable wheel? Interesting idea

Yes, the band just slip from bend wire in crash, saved the servo gear. I used a wooden landing gear before and now replaced it with a carbon rod, good in turning....

I like the two-layer hinge idea, especially when using a type of tape that has poor adhesive qualities on foam (such as packing tape). By using Blenderm, I didn't have any of the normal peeling issues like packing tape does as it is extremely sticky, even on foam.

I LOVE Blenderm (Leukosilk here in Germany). Super sticky and really strong, however, the textured surface doesn’t do it for me…..

Clear tape for the top (visible) surface over a dry layer of smeared on Por and small strips (1 – 2 cm long, 3 – 4 in total) of Blenderm on the bottom (chamfered) surface.

Strong as whatever (I have had the foam break away behind the joint before the tape gives), ultra free moving and weighs next to nothing.

The servo gear survived, the rubber bands act like a damper, soften the crash impact...
