Wonderful World of Rapid Prototyping

Some pics from a rapid prototyping show I attended for work. The technology for this area of manufacturing is amazing and it is a truly satisfying business for modelers to be involved in.

Wow, I have not kept up in the past couple of years. Like most tech now a days, this just advances by leaps and bounds.

Great examples, and thank you for sharing.

Wow! (from an acient 1/2 century past)

Will be nice when more of this filters down to the consumer level... or even serious-enthusiast. Still, for now I'm waiting for laser cutters to become somewhat more commodity (eg, $1000 or so, instead of $10,000).

Roland had some nice little desk-top CNC machines starting at around $3500 at the show. I was drooling over those.
The 3D printers are amazing and becoming practical in making parts but the price per piece is still high so making a silicone mold off of a part and casting with urethane is still a popular way to go.
