.5 meter Manta HLG

Some clips of my micro Manta glider.

The first clip is in some rather blustery wind, and at around 1:10 minutes in, the elevator stuck and I nearly lost it. The 2nd clip was a little better conditions, but still not great. I've gotten it to thermal a handfull of times and it climbs like its got a motor on full throttle.

Still lots of tinkering to do with wing design at this tiny size.

Thanks guys.

here's the original Manta DLG plans I used to scale things, and a set of redrawn, rescaled manta parts that I used for the glider itself - pretty much any DLG out there can be shrunk down like this though if you've got a 3 view or set of plans to resize. The pod was made from carving out a peice of balsa for a mold plug, then using that to make a female mold out of clay, then one layer of Kevlar and 30min epoxy.

There's loads of pictures in the link in my first post, but here's a shot of the PZ Vapor RX setup in the pod. The original PZ Cessnas had range issues, but the Vapor RX is much better, I got the glider awfully small a couple times and had no problems controlling it. interplanet hit it right on the head too, as I'm already drawing up the plans for a 24" full house version.
